SCI-FI - Scratchbuilt Starfighters group build

Well. . . . .I goofed up. I was in the groove last weekend and starting to detail my crew section when I made a fatal error. Let’s just say that a space heater is not a great choice for drying paint. [xx(] I was very depressed and thought about dropping out of the build. I’m not going to though and I have rebuilt the crew compartment. I am only a little farther behind than I was at the last posting but I figured out how I’m going to mount the gatling guns. My stupid mistake may have helped my project to be better.
How is everyone else doing? Some pictures would be nice.[:D] I hope to post some pics of the rebuilt crew module this weekend.

Sorry to hear of your mishap, Woody. Glad to hear you are hanging in there to finish your ship

Walt, hope ya get more time in the future for yours…

Dan

Well between the killer tooth pain I was having , work , family and helping build models for an independent movie maker , I have made a little progress , I did however decide to see if my skills are up to par so I’m going scratch built all the way , I’m not going to kit bash anything , I just want to see if I can do it and what it ends up looking like , and actually having Alfred Wong join the forum gave me a boost of insperation ----------- Wow not sleep makes my spelling look like [censored] sorry guys , in the off topic forum you can read up on the war with a toothache I have had , I beilive I’ve been up just over 4 days now …, seems my grammer suffers too , I think the worst is over , at least I hope it is , so as soon as the headache stops I’ll be getting some much needed sleep and then start fresh on the project .

Walt

Nice come back woody I didnt have that kind of mishap but I kept changing my mind on details and although I am basically finished I am still decalling. I also started to scratch build an airfield defensive turret instead of using the tank as I felt it would be to hard to balance the scene out.

I’m in. Getting kind of a late start but I work best under pressure. I work best in 1 : 18 scale.30 days should be plenty of time.

Cplchilly, that should be one cool diorama!
Welcome, Zaphod b, and have fun with your build!

Regards, Dan

Hello Zaphod, Welcome to the forum and the Sci-Fi Group Build.

By the way guys I’m still plugging away. I worked on my revised crew module & engines today. My mishap put me way behind but I’m going to finish this project no matter what.[;)]

Woody…awerright! Glad to hear you’re hanging in there…

Dan

Yeah cant wait to see it woody

Hey guys , sorry I haven’t posted in a while , I been throughly busy with work and another project and haven’t had much time to work on the starfighter , I’d say it’s about 45% complete give or take , I don’t have any new progress pics to show off but as soon as I do I’ll post them , I’m glad to hear that everyone is still in this build and I’m happy to see everyone still has everyone else’s support .

Walt

Good to hear from you, Walt.

Still looking forward to see your fighter.

Regards, Dan

Well mine’s done except for the base and this weekend I’m going to my brother in law’s and have him take some pic’s and download them to my photo site. I’ve decided to keep the base simple for now as I don’t have time as on June 12th Im entering that and some other models at the MINICON 04 in Ontario. I’ve been helping my son’s with their stuff and havn’t had enough time for my own but I do have the base made and I will finish it eventually so wish me luck.

I’m afraid work, and commissions for other peopl has been cutting into my building time as well. I do at least have a design worked out, near-future orbital fighter inspired by the X-43 Hyper-X.

Cplchilly, I’m looking forward to seeing your masterpiece. Good luck at the show.[;)]

Richard, Cool concept! [8D] I’ve been interested in SCRAM jets lately, very interesting technology.

Nice design, Richard
Cpchilly, good luck with Minicon 04.

Dan

Thank’s guy’s!

Ok folks…my Terran fighter needed an enemy adversary to duel with so here is a quick sketch:

Thanks for looking!
Dan

Will the forces of good be able to turn back this mounting evil? [:0]

Cool design Dan. Are you going to propose Sci-Fi Fighter Build part II? [8D]

Here is a photo update on my “enemy” fighter:

Started RH wing carved out of 2lb. foam with brass laser cannons.

Woody, I think I’ll just add this one to the existing build…I might be the only one if we had a part 2! [;)]

Regards, Dan
