I spent the day today assembling & cleaning the seams of the 1/48 Trimaster Me 262. I usually trim & sand the parts to fit the wing to the fuselage, but I had recently got a tube of Squadron White Putty, so I figured I’d give it a shot. It seems (pun intended [8D] ) to do agood job, and dries quickly. Knowing the pitting nature of putties, I covered the larger areas on the belly with Zap A Gap & sanded it smooth.
In this shot, you can see how much of the instrument panel wiring is visible.
Gearbay, looking forward.
I added a strip of styrene between the bays, as the kit part doesn’t quite span this area.
The hydraulic lines will be added to the landing gear, main & nose gear wells in the final assembly.
Now to get out the airbrush and HAVE SOME FUN ! [:p]
Thanks again for letting me share !
Once again, brilliant job, Pix! Great cockpit and gun bay detail, and those electricals and/or hydraulics in the wheel bays are definitely eye-catching. What scheme will this Swallow have? Hope to see your future masterpiece completed soon. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, some might say: what, another 262?[:-,] But done to your standard, this is going to be another stunner![8D][bow][bow] Even before the paintjob, I’m already thoroughly impressed! Thanks for sharing it with us Pix.[^]
sweet looking build for sure Pix!![tup][tup][tup] so…are ya gonna try that crazy, extra cool camo pattern on her? you posted it in a thread on here not long ago. later.
Yep-- looking to be another fine build Pix!! Can’t wait to see her with her clothes on! I think I am just going to give up and send you the one 262 kit I have Pix…as Matt says, no one builds a better 262 than you.
onyan, jay, Karl, falcon, & saltydog - I haven’t quite decided on the scheme yet, but I’ve limited my choices somewhat by using the rudder with the shorter trim tab & no light. I have five choices from different aftermarket sheets. I probably won’t be doing Sinner’s wild camo on this one, though.
pingtang - the gear and gun bays are painted in different shades of Alcad. REALLY nice stuff.
Jeeves - sure, I’ll do that for you, as long as it’s not Tamiya. Just a little too easy for the old Pixman. I did get the Email, but I can’t find the pic of Idiot’s Delight I saw. Just gotta go through the mags, one by one, and I’ll eventually find it.
Thanks again ! I’ll let you know which scheme I’ve chosen.
I’m either going to mark it as Heinz Bar’s, or “Yellow 7,” the subject of the walkaround that has the pics of the gear bays. I have resin rockets for that one, but I’ll need to repaint the nose gear bay (RLM 02) and interiors of the gear doors (RLM 76).
That looks really good, Pix! What did you use for the wireing in the landing gear bays? I think it’s about time you built one (too many allied planes in your sig [:p])! How many 262s does this make for you? 6?
