Scale?

Guys

I have just started modelling and have created a 1/32 jeep which i am happy with. My question is what is the most popular scale to build a diorama with and which is easier from the start.I have ordered Shep Paines books about dioramas which will help, but I’d like some board feedback.

Armor probably 1/35 then either 1/72 or 1/48 [1/48 has the least availbility]

Planes ? 1/32 or 1/48 then 1/72?

1/72 is nice because they take up little space and the armor & air are the same scale

I am switching to all 1/48 so dioramas can go both ways

Traditionally, the scale of choice has been 1/35, due, in part, to the variety of kits in that scale and the relatively good figures. There are more 1/48 scale vehicles coming ond and supporting kits for them. I/72 has a lot of armor right now but figures tend to be soft plastic toys, often with little regard to detail.

Armor in 1/35 & Aircraft in 1/48 are the most popular scales, but Dioramas in these scales can take up a lot of space, depending on how ambitious the Diorama. If you’re mainly interested in Armor Dioramas, 1/48 scale kits are now available that cover a wide range of subjects, including support vehicles, & take considerably less space than a 1/35 equivalent. Figure selection is still pretty limited however, especially when compared to what’s available in 1/35. The subject selection in 1/72 is very broad for both Armor & Aircraft, but again figure selection is more limited & harder to paint convincingly.

If you are interested in different scales for dioramas, heres a site with a wide assortment of Preiser figures:
