Scale Ratios Chart or Spreadsheet

I am making both a 1/35 scale military diorama and an N scale railroad layout (for my son). Does anyone know of a chart or spreadsheet that spells out scale ratios that defines (for example) how tall a building is…for example 10’ in 1/35= __inches and etc…hope someone can help!

Welcome lash.

10’ in 1/35 scale would be about 3-3/7 " in a standard foot rule. I made my own chart using MS Excel.

Thanks Dwight! (Care to email the sheet to me?)

hi lash. yeah dwight, i’d like to get a copy of your chart too if you don’t mind. thanx.[:p]

Awhile back I was wondering about using model RR stuff for dioramas and posted a question about how RR scales compare to the scales we work in. Someone (sorry, can’t remember who you were but thanks!) put up a link to a site where I got these numbers.

F - 1:20.3
G - 1:22.5
#1 - 1:32
O - 1:48
S - 1:64
HO - 1:87.1

Dwight… would you mind sending it to me too… thanks in advance…

fun with numbers!
first do a ‘feet to inches’ conversion… (multiply feet by 12)
10 ft = 120 inches
now divide by ur chosen scale’s denominator (160 for n-scale, 35 for ur armor) …
a 10 foot tall object would measure approx. 3.42 inches in 1/35 or .75 inches in n scale…
HTH,

i forgot to mention that in the UK, n-scale railroading is 1/148 instead of 1/160… sorry.

speaking of sending things, where’s that airbrush , dude? [;)]
i have a couple of models that need something to wear !
(just kidding u…)
hope all is well and best wishes,

Hi guys,

Sorry just logged on today. I’ll send it to each of you one of you. However, please try to verify my calculations before fully trusting on it. He-he-he.

Frosty,

You sure do know your math. Good for you. Am pretty sure Calculus would be a breeze. I’ve heard Calculus is being taught there in High School. Pretty advanced huh?. We get Calculus here only in College.

Keep it up. Knowing your math is as cool as it can get.

gee, thanks dwight so nice of you. don’t worry i’ll check you’re calculations.[;)]

Frosty…

I just put the airbrush in the mail yesterday… sorry for taking so long… I’ve been working way too much and I had forgoten to take it to the post office

DT: thx for ur kind words… would u believe, math is my worst subject ! they do offer Calculus in high school here, but i haven’t taken that class yet.

Ricky: thx to u also ! i can hardly wait !!! (gotta remember to practice before hitting any models, tho’ !)

This is why I went into art. No math…

I have a headache now just reading frosty’s post about equations.

Mike

Frosty, math was my worst subject, too when I was in high school. But what did I do?

I took up engineering!

DT:
remind me to stay out of any buildings u worked on ! [;)]
(actually i’m sure all ur structures r Godzilla-proof…)
LOL, and i’m gonna tell that one to my math teacher so he’ll see there’s hope for me yet ! [:D]

But one may wonder. “What does an engineer really do?”

Well, an engineer is an individual who turns abstractions into …malfunctions.

Yeah…that’s me alright! LOL.

Hi dwight can I please get a copy of your chart too. My e-mail is alexdenisenko@hotmail.com
Thanks a lot!

Hi Dwight,
If you dont mind, could I also get a copy of your chart whenever you get a chance. Thanks for helping everyone out. People like you make this a great forum to be part of [:)]
