edit duh, O scale is near 1/48 { 1/43 to 1/48 }, HO is near 1/72 ish {1/87}
O Scale is what you want for 1/48 scale.
OO scale is closest to 1:72 scale, coming in at about 1/75 scale (though it’s usually quoted to be 1/76 scale. I don’t know why).
so O scale for 1/48
and OO for 1/72…how close is HO to 1/72?..thanks for the info…very much appreciated…
Ho is 1/87… Way too small to be used with anything 1/72.
regards, Rick
The common railroad scales are:
N scale = 1:160 HO Scale = 1:87
O Scale = 1:48 (varies between 1:43 to 1:50)
S Scale = 1:64
G Gage = varies between 1:20.5 to 1:29
There is a considerable difference between HO and 1:72 scale. A 6’ tall man is 1" high in 1:72 scale, and 13/16" high in HO scale. The HO scale man would appear to be 5’ tall in 1:72 scale.
