I know this has been asked…but I need a refresher…I searched under “scale conversion” no hits.
If I have a 1/87 kit and 1/72 scale decals what is the formula for conversion?
eehh,I thinks it’s: size (of the decals) X 87 then divide by 72
It’s quite simple actually.
All you have to do is divide the smaller number (72) by the larger one (87). This gives: 72/87=0,827
So, if you would measure the size of the 1/72nd decals, and multiply them with 0,827 you would get the size of the decals in 1/87th scale.

If you are trying to make the decals bigger you can scan them in but there is a percentage ratio thats in play and I dont know it. I know a couple guys do, I seen them post it in the past. Theyll be along shortly
Okay…so I would then reduce the 1/72 decals by 17% to be at or near 1/87 scale…math was never one of my strongest subjects…
