SB-2 charging ahead - now with more pictures!!!!

The Tupolev SB-2 vac project is really gaining momentum now. In the picture below I have just finished attaching the left wing (pilot’s orientation mind you) and started filling the gaps. Note the little blocks I’ve set up to hold the plane in the correct orientation while each wing is placed. Arrows are: #1 a couple of polystyrene shims filling a large gap, #2 a slight step that needs more superglue fill, #3 this area already has been filled with superglue and cleaned up, #4 I had to remove the lower alignment tabs to facilitate sanding to get the proper alignment on this wing. They will be replaced just before the wing gets attached.

no red x’s here. looks great swanny.

Looking slick, Swanny. I love the look of that pilot figure too. Did it come with the kit? [bow]

Looks good swanny, as usual[tup][tup][wow][bow][bow]

Looking good Swanny, thanks for sharing.

All the crew figures associated with this build are from the spares box - each one had to be cut into sections and reconstructed to fit the stations. The Observer is being painted right now and the ball turret gunner is still on the operating table.

Looking good so far mate. Thanks for the pic.

Looking great Swanny!! Personally I think Vacform is a sign of a masochistic streak, but each to their own!! [(-D][(-D][(-D]

Looking great so far swanny.

Swanny,

Great work as usual. I’ve always wanted to attempt a vac build but not sure I could do justice to it. So I will just watch the master in action. Thanks.

Richard

Vacform…

…run away!!!

You’re a brave man, as well as talented.

Karl

Thanks for the detailed advice and pics on a VAC build. I did a Sparrowhawk many years ago and feel a need to try another one.

beautiful

looks very promising ,I always love your figures and
planes swanny.

Looking good, Swanny !
There were some unique-looking bombers used by Russia. I wish that more were available in 1/48 injection kits besides MPM’s Pe-2.
Looking forward to the progress !

Looking good so far, Swanny.
Keep em coming.

Looks great so far Swanny. This is a subject that is neglected by model companies… I wish someone would fix that!

Progress continues - here she is nose-to-nose with my PZL 37B

and a front shot …

Shortly after this was taken all the openings were stuffed with tissue and the first coat of primer went on.
