Saturn V

Hi All, Where do you go to get scale drawings (1/72) of the Saturn V with the Lunar Lander and Command Module so I can build one from scratch?

Don’t know about 1/72, but plans in 1/48 can be found at www.realspacemodels.com Go to the menu bar and click on drawings. The drawings are done by Dave Weeks, one of the top-if not the top- real space model builders in the country. You’ll also find a 1/72 CSM, that’s first rate as well. Airfix is rumored to be rereleasing their LM in 1/72 so that should ease your burden a little. Be sure to post pics as you go along.

lewbud thank you I shall go investigate and see what there is to see. Yes I will post progression pictures of the wee beasty, Magoo

Does anybody know of anyone who has tried to scratch build a Saturn V in 1/72 before? I was wondering what some of the pit falls might be. Magoo

Andrew,

I don’t know of any that are being scratchbuilt in 1/72, but there are several being done in 1/48-just can’t recall the websites. I believe it’s Apogee rockets that makes a 1/70 flying kit that you might start with, then add Real Space’s 1/72 CSM. Not to take anything away from this forum, but there’s a very active space modeling group on Yahoo groups, come on over.

Thank you for the information and the invitation. Magoo

Andrew,

This just posted over on the space modelers group at Yahoo. Only took five years to finish www.spacemodels.dk/saturnv.htm

Thank you for the informatrion. What a great amount of detail and effort is going into that model. Makes me think I’m a little lacking in the skills department. However, nothing like a good example to make sure you try harder to complete your own up to viewing standards. Again rhank you for the link, Magoo
