One of the things I keep meaning to post…I got a satellite radio a few months ago and the forties channel is perfect to turn on while working on a build. Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller kind of help me get in the WWII mindset. Has anyone else discovered this gem? I really don’t listen to anything else other than my satellite radio now. I’m addicted.

I’m not really on a soapbox, I just thought that one was hysterical…
You must be speaking of the 40’s on 4. Aint’s satellite radio great!!
They used to play swing music over the PA speakers all over Rebel Field when the Confederate Air Force was based down in the Rio Grande Valley. There was something about that music, while I’d be doing gopher work for the restoration guys, and all the salvaged nose art panels looking down from the panel walls, not to mention being surrounded by Mustangs, maybe the He-111 and FiFi, that made me feel like I was in a place that had disappeared ten years before I was born. I may be a child of the '60s, but great music is, of course, ageless.
BTW, what’s the latest, most plausible explanation for the death of Glenn Miller over the Channel? Last I heard, his Norseman was allegedly hit by bombs being dumped by returning Lancs.

You guys might wanna note that you’re talking about XM Satellite Radio. Sirius Radio has some of the same music, but on different channels than XM. I, too, have XM, and LOVE it!! The biggest reason I got XM rather than Sirius was because the NASCAR stuff is only on XM. Well, guess what? Next year, NASCAR switches over to Sirius. Seems that Sirius was willing to pay NASCAR $21M per year, versus XM’s $3M per year. Guess I’ll have to buy another satellite radio now…
Oh yeah… I listen to Channel 004 also. GREAT MUSIC!!! Reminds me of '40s & '50s musicals.
I don’t know about the glenn miller thing. I just thought it was a storm…
planenuts it is 40’s on 4. I love it.

I saw in a catalog a portable XM radio that you could use as a personal walkman type thing, and it also play through an FM radio (ie, my truck stereo that I’ve already sunk money into, my home stereo, etc)… I’m thinking seriously about that one. I’m getting ESPECIALLY sick of all the radio stations around here conspiring to go to commercial at the SAME TIME!
