There is also PLENTY of information on the P-3 on the web. Just google “P-3 Orion”

The major differences between the P-3B and the P-3C is in the electronics that they carry.

The P-3C’s system is integrated with a digital computer while the B model is not. There is also

a model of the P-3 that was called the “Heavy B” which used the Charlie’s engines, landing gear

and the passive sensor system. You might take a look at the website http://www.vpnavy.com

where you will find quite a bit of information on the Orion.

Best of luck

Ray

Thanks for the info! I found some good pics on the web.

by the way who is the pilot in the picture you send me? it´s cool see female pilots in this big bird

best regards and happy new year!!!

Now that a very cool subject! And an awesome and unusual addition to the completed collection[8D]

Good luck Jeremias and post pics.

Check out the P3 Orion in Action book by Squadron Signal. There are lots of good photo’s and line drawings in it. The “A” model P3’s had Allison T56-A-10w engines and they were rated at 4300 shaft horse power each. The “A”'s also had water/alcohol injection for take off. This feature was not used on the “B”'s or “C”'s. All of the “B”'s and all of the “C”'s had Allison T56-A-14 engines and they were rated at 4600 shaft horse power each. Also the 4600 was an airframe rating.

The interior layout of the aircraft were identical between the “A”'s and “B”'s. The “C”'s differed because of the computer system in the aircraft and the locations of the logic units for the computer. The “C” models had external sonobuoy chutes on the belly and aft of the wings and the capacity was 48 bouys external. we also had internal chutes and had stowage for 36 bouys. Routinly we flew with two complete loads of bouys.
