Digger - what were you planning on using for making your sandbags?
Robert,
I thought of using modeling clay with ether tan muslim material or paper towels then painting them tan.Digger
Might work Digger … never tried that method but keep us posted.
Most common that I have seen is using A/B putty or Milliput. Making the individual bags with these mediums and then pressing a course material onto them to give a texture.
Hey Digger Check out " Modeling Tanks and Military Vehicles" by Sheperd Paine, Kalmbach books. He shows you how to make the sand bags, and also a rack that was built to mount them on the side for extra armor. Have fun[:D]
May I offer a suggestion? When you make the sandbags, make sure you go easy on adding texture to the sandbags. Frankly, I’d avoid it altogether given the scale effect. The reason is that even rough burlap, in 1/35 scale would be scarcely noticeable in my opinion. Canvas would definitely appear as smooth.
Again, these are my thoughts only. Use your eye to judge what looks best for you.
Rgrds,
Roy
Does anybody else have any more pics or info on this subject?
did the jerries put sandbags on their behemoths?
I don’t think so, I have never seen pictures with sand bags on any german armor. I could be wrong though.
