Salutations!

It appears as if my days of simply “lurking” in this forum have come to an end and it is time to be civil and say hello! I began modelling during the early 70’s and built anything I could get my hands on. A decade later, I discovered the premier edition of FSM on the magazine rack in a local grocery store and was hooked. I collected every issue, always appreciating the work of truly great model builders and the invaluable tips passed along by readers from around the globe. However, in 2001, a divorce led to the loss of both my collection of kits and FSM back issues. I might even say that I lost the inspiration to build. Now, after a decade long hiatus, I am remarried to a wonderful woman who is very supportive and I am trying my hand at the hobby once again. Looking forward to picking up new tips and inspiration from all of you!

Welcome to the Forum, and very glad your personal situation is improved. (I can sympathize with the collection loss, since I had a similar experience some years ago. It’s scary how little time it takes to start building it all up again!)

It’s a great time to come back to the hobby, with all sorts of kits and accessories available for every modeling taste. Jump in and get in on the discussions, and enjoy the hobby and the great group of folks here.

P.S. I lurked for a long time too. Didn’t feel I matched up to the awesome builds you see here, but these guys and gals are awesome and they don’t bite! Shot, you’ll even get to talk to the big cheeses of the magazine!

Welcome to the Forums! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s here, just waiting to be asked for.

Welcome to the forums

Thanks for the warm welcome! I truly appreciate it and will be certain to post photos once I have actually made some progress at the workbench!

Welcome Knight !!

Happy to hear things are going well for you now. My wife is also very supportive of my ‘disease’. In fact she even helped me slice the rudder off of my Fw190 this morning.

Your divorce led to the loss of your magazines and models?? Oh man, how is it that you’re not in prison cuz I would’ve … well, you know …

Anyway, welcome aboard and enjoy the Forums. They’re very helpful in here. I’ve only been a member for a few weeks and have picked up an immeasurable amount of information already.

Welcome aboard, glad you decided to join in.

I was lucky, my separation/divorce only lead to the loss of a lot of my built models. The stash and everything else managed to get away.

And the lost models just gives me an excuse to build them again, only better.

Welcome to the Forum, Sir Knight!

Welcome to the forum Knight! Glad to have you here, Joe

I have often said that if I did my X wife in I would be the HAPPIEST man on death row !!

But they wont let you have an X-acto in there !

No worries… The stash will grow…whether you want it to or not !

20 miles by 20 miles by 20 miles! Enough cyanoacrylate for a whole population of creative geniuses. In return, that vat of cyanoacrylate would instantaneously project solid plastic, in any shape or color they might imagine. For any purpose! Creation by mere goo!
