Salt stains on PBY catalina?

As many of you know, ships are often adorned by patches of salt stains which are caused by the ocean spray.
I’m wondering if flying boats such as the PBY would have had salt stains?
Would it be realistic to apply patches of white pastel on a PBY to simulate salt stains?

I don’t think they would have too much in the way of salt stains. I wasn’t there so you can take this with a grain of salt, [:D][:D] I crack myself up, BUT generally they were washed right away after any flight that involved them landing in the ocean. Saltwater and aluminum really don’t like each other too well.

I think, being as they were made out of aluminum, maintenance would’ve kept the salt stains to a very minimum, Aluminum corrodes fairly quickly in salt water so maintenance would want to stay ahead of it.
