i am about to build an old x Frog novo, Supermarine S6-B racer ‘schnieder’ seaplane in 1:72 and have no color ref for the blue and silver (or was it grey ?), can anyone help with a link maybe to a color pic or two or anyone built one recently…any help much apprechiated…
Migs,
I’m sure the plane was blue and silver - but what the closest match (FS number) would be escapes me.
I did a search on yahoo.com , “supermarine s6-b” and got 11 hits, most with photos, many in color, of current models. Maybe you can match the color from the photos - although the blue on the fuselage and floats looks like the same blue used on the blue/white/red tri-color tail.
Maybe someone else out there has more info.
Cheers

According to the Profile Publication No. 39, for the Supermarine S4-S6B, it is the same color as the blue in the tri-color fin flash. If the number one for the fuselage on your decal sheet has a blue outline, that is the color to match. In addition, I have both the Frog and Airfix kits of this aircraft and one of them references Humbrol gloss Mediterranean Blue as the color to use.
If I ever get around to building one of these, I will take the decal sheet to the hobby shop and get the closest match and then lighten or darken it myself to achieve the best color match.
