Been building a lot of modern armor lately and have this one to add to the collection. Already quite a ways into the build with tracks and the main hull almost finished.
Planning on trying out a new technique for covering the tank in homemade barracuda netting. More to come on that later.
Thanks for the comments guys. Turret is just about finished up with a few minor pieces still needing to be placed.
Wanted to try an idea I had for diy barracuda netting as most of the reference photos I found were of the tank covered in barracuda netting. My method is to cut out and soak tissue paper onto the area you want to be covered with diluted pva glue. Once dry, I peeled it off and took a small hole punch and started punching holes. The hole punch won’t cut all the way through and makes the tissue paper look pretty close to barracuda pattern. I opted to not cover the entire hull as the process is pretty time consuming.
It’s weird that the Leo IIa6 seems to have a shot trap under the mantlet. Someone mentioned that the netting resembles zimmerit, so the mantlet struck me as another " feature that the Germans had difficulty with in WWII. Oh well . . . history repeating itself.
