Rutan Wellie for Gary "HOG" Allum Memorial GB

This project is in honor of a modeling friend who died recently. Gary Allum was a talented guy who was able to absolutely blow your mind with his projects. Since I met Gary on these forums, I thought I might share the project here as well. I might add that this is inspired by Frank W. who did the Rutan B-17 a few years ago and showed what you can do with your mind in modeling.

This is a old kit that was given to me and I thought I might shake it up a little.[:D]

Modifying the nose for nose gear

Bomb bay made with parts from a F-22

Trial run for the gear

Looks like its going to be good.

OMG, Eddie’s Baaaack…

Looks neat, keep it coming> I think I just came up with a new air racer idea.

Thank you Andrew and John! As well, thank you to the brave souls who took the chance to look at this strange brew. It’s not something everyone is used to seeing. Well, at least not since I’ve posted some of my work here.[swg]

I added a weapons pylon from a Super Hornet to give the tail a bigger profile and I refined the spinners a bit.

[:P]Hide your models!!! Eddie’s off his meds again!!! [}:)]

Looking pretty darned good there buddy.

Thanks Swanny! I really appreciate it.[8D]

Hi Eddie, welcome back. Looking great as usual. [bow] [#toast] [tup] I think this is a case of “building outside of the box”. Keep it up. I look forward to seeing these great builds.

Jim[4:-)]

Oh No! Eddie’s been let loose and is off his meds again!!!

And I hope you take that in the spirit with which it was meant…[:D]

Always great to see your…er…“butchery”…and I mean that in the nicest possible sense…I love your creativity and your imagination in creating these things with wings.

Can’t wait to see it finished, mate!

Oh the horror of it all!! Those beautiful models have been butchered!!..What did you say?..Eddie is at work again?..He did this?..I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeves for this one!

Good to see you again Eddie. I love following your builds. They never fail to remind me that this is a hobby and it is supposed to be fun.

It looks as if I have some catching up to do. I’d have done it sooner ,but I’m still trying to get use to this new format.[:#]

I handpainted because of the weather and the need to get it done by the 31st.

Very …er…nice Eddie! Seriously, nice build man. I’d love to look into the aerodynamic possibilities of this and some of your other creations. I think that one of those engineer guys with a slide rule thingy might be able to tweak this critter and get it into the air!

Uh, Ooh! Someone let Eddie “Frankenmiller” out of his padded cell and even worse, gave him access to sharp tools. He does manage to come up with some “interesting” creations.

Thank you. This is one of those builds where I did it more for the feel of the work than anything else. 2+ days left till it’s done…

The Wellington HG is done. I named her Lola after my recently departed 20yr.old cat. This is not a museum piece but it is a labor of friendship. A build like this would have normally taken quite a bit longer if I had gone into deeper detail, but that was not the intention of this build. I wanted a subject that looked good in a simple way and I hope I’ve achieved it. Anyway one looks at it, I did in rememberance of Gary.

And a couple more shots…

Eddie, congrats [:D[[:D[[:D[[t$t][t$t][t$t] you’ve done it again. Fantastic job. You are amazing. Wish you were one of my neighbors. I’d be bugging you all the time.LOL

An interesting build as usual, Eddie. I like the British prototype markings.

Keep the faith!!!
