Russian Wasp II Class Missile Boat 1:127

Kitech’s Russian Wasp II Class Missile Boat 1:127 - by “Tuk”

Very nice work. On an odd coincidence, I just read about it today while researching for my 1/400 Tarantul Class Missile Corvette which was designed, with the Pauk Class, to temporarally replace the Wasp class until the Nanuchka Class came into service.

Many thanks for your kind compliments! Do you have the picture of the Tarantul Class Corvette? I have no idea how it looks like…

That is a neat looking boat! I’m just surprised that it wasn’t built in 1/72 scale? Not sure of the length but it couldn’t be much longer than a German S-100 boat.

Many thanks for your kind comments. Kitech (original Chengdefu) seems to fix their warship models’ length to 33cm regardless of ship type and they don’t bother telling model scale. The 1:127 scale I derived from dividing real ship’s length (4200cm) with the model’s length (33cm). If this one was produced in 1:72 scale, I think it’ll be about the same length with the German S-100. I still have two more variants of this class unbuilt. They’re cheap, only about $7 each.

Sorry for the delay.

Interesting little thing.

Thanks for your pic, cassibill. It looks real nice, I’ll see if Kitech has this varaint or not.

Does anyone know if these and other kits by the same manufacturer are still in production? I had read one source that indicated that Zhengdefu was no longer in business but I cannot confirm. I would ask the same question about Kitech since they either have/had a corporate relationship with Zhengdefu or merely share a few molds and produce their own version of the same kit.

Interesting, if obscure subject matter especially in regard to the model ship category. They produce a line of odd 1/260 scale missile destroyers that are intriguing.

Nice work on the Osa II but it appears the mast is mounted too far back on the superstructure; it should be placed just aft of the pilothouse. [blkeye] Don’t ask how much research I’ve done on this boat…
