Russian Naval Question

I’m asking this question for an aviation project I’m contemplating doing, but I figured as it had to do with naval insignia, it was best asked to you folks who built floaty things[:)]

My question is regarding the Russian Navy jack (pre and post Soviet era).

Is it a white flag with a blue cross going out toward the corners? I’ve seen a picture of one. but I can’t exactly remember for sure what it looks like. Was it the same prior to Socialism as it is post Socialism?

Any help would be great, even better if you could post a picture of one.

Thanks in advance

here we go found this on the web , there are a few of them , try www.flags-by-swi.com , go to u.n. flags go to russia then military

hmmm . . these flags have changed with the time.
From what I’ve read off these sites, they used some, and revert to older ones on different occassions.

See these links for eras of Soviet/Russian/CIS Flags:

  1. Soviet Military Flags : http://flagspot.net/flags/su~.html
  2. Russian Naval Flags : http://flagspot.net/flags/ru~nav.html

Thanks guys.

The white and blue ensign posted by Sean was definitely what I was after confirmation on. By timelines and chronolgies I’ve found, it was adopted in the 1700s and reintroduced, relatively unchanged after the end of Socialism.

Thanks again guys.
