Russian Bare Metal

Hi,

I am wondering if someone could give some advice on a tank I’m working on. I am working on a Tamiya JS-3, my first armor model after years of being out of the hobby. I am wondering if someone can suggest a realistic but simple method for painting the tracks on my JS-3. Since I am looking at more of a parade ground type finish for this tank, I would like to paint the tracks without the dirt, mud, and rust commonly found on armor.

Any suggestions on a simple, but realistic method for doing this would be appreciated. Also, any photos you have are welcome.

I use Testor gunmetal metalizer in the spray can

You could also paint them flat black then drybrush them a metallic color.

Thanks! I will give both of these a shot.

That is just a few steps less than what I do.

same…

burn iron then dry-brush them with some light metallic like metallic silver. a wash with black plus a few drops of rust wouldn’t kill it either.
