RR armored car kit ???

Does anyone make a kit of the Rolls-Royce armored car like the one used in the film Lawrence of Arabia? I am looking for 1/35 or smaller.

Thanks,
Pete

do u have a pic?

Your best bet Pete is to look at some of the European resin manufacturers. I did a real quick search and had no luck at all. I think (but could be wrong) that Commanders Series Models used to have one in resin but if they did it’s now OOP.

I am not familiar with the movie, what model armor car are you looking for?

I don’t have the capability to post a picture and don’t know if it had a model number. It was manufactured for the British Army and the Royal Flying Corps from 1915 through 1924. Several were given new wheels and armament and used in North Africa in 1940. They were built on their standard “Silver Ghost” automobile chassis.

I found a web site that has 1/72 metal kits, but they look relatively crude. [xx(]

Just found one in 1/32 scale from a company called scalelink. May have to sell the family farm to buy one though. Here’s a pic and the link

Hey shermanfreak -

Thanks for the link and the picture. It looks like a really nice kit, but at 95 pounds, I will have to sell one of the kids.

I’ve always thought that this thing was so ugly that it is absolutely beautiful.

Sell one of the kids, hmm, I’m thinking, I’m thinking! [}:)]

The Sept. '89 FSM has an article on scratbuilding an RR Armored Car in 1/24 scale using a Heller kit as a base.

Yeah I have been looking for one of those lately, but no luck here, and I don’t feel like spending a ton on a resin kit even if someone makes it.
