Finally finished the Panda 1/48 F-35A USAF kit. However, I wasn’t too keen on the decals, so I decided to use a combination of some spare Xtradecal low-vis roundels and lettering, along with some Modelmaster F-14 low-viz decals to imagineer a S/VTOL Royal Navy JSF.
Considering I was essentially goofing around and learning how to handle a bigger kit, it didn’t come out too badly [:p]. The kit itself, as has been said before by others, fits well but lacks detail. I also found blending the separate intakes into the fuselage a bit of a chore, and the attachment of the various flaps and doors was very crude.
I didn’t hyperdetail the cockpit, but I did add some MFD-style panels - the kit only has dials: a bit retro for a plane due in 2012 [;)]
It came out very nicely. I was wondring how the RN F-35 would look like. This would be close to the real thing when it rolls out, I reckon. Thanks for sharing!
Nice job on the build & paint job. The kit is lacking detail, but it’s the only 1/48 game in town. When/If it becomes operational, pretty sure we’ll see more kits released.
