Rotorhead material

Can anyone tell me what the rotorheads on an AH-1 are made of? I assume it’s steel but is it unfinished or coated steel or stainless steel?

I may be wrong, but i believe they are composite rotorblades. Can’t imagine the Army still using steel rotorblades taking into consideration its excessive weight and overall advances in rotorblade technology.

I don’t mean the blades, I mean the head the blades are attched to. You know, the shaft and the other rods etc.

The rotorhead itself was made of either steel or titanium, can’t remember for sure, they were painted gray. The connecting rods and transmission were natural metal color but coated to prevent corrosion. UH-1C & M models used the same rotor system later used on the AH-1’s.(540)

What model Cobra and what year? Color will vary depending on that. Let me know what you are modeling and I’ll post a pick if I have it.

AH-1S of Japan. Not sure of the year.

Army Cobra rotor heads were made of an aluminum alloy.

Sorry about the confusion - read your question wrong.
