Just out of curiosity, how many have been cajoled into completeing models for your ladies (or men). Last one I did was a Tree Beard figure from Lord of the Rings, CINCHOUSE has now directed (she issued a 5 paragraph order) that a Fairey Swordfish Floatplane shall be completed post haste for her viewing enjoyment. Guess its a good way to get new stuff, but not sure if I can handle the pressure. [:p]
Never done a model for the wife but she has finished a few of mine off (pemenantly)[:(] strange how they NEVER break anything of theirs whilst cleaning isn’t it. one of the latest of her victims was ONLY my recently completed BEAR [xx(] , its a total loss …Greg
My wife has also commisioned a Corsair from me, but I suppose she can wait ahile. She’s used to it. I also got a request from my mother, who wants an F-14 from one of the squadrons she saw perform an airshow on my ship.
Overall, I don’t really mind. Like Wolfp said, it’s a good excuse to buy more kits. Plus, it does give a bit of an incentive to get it done, if only to keep them off of your back. I mean, at least my wife isn’t asking me to paint the house or anything like that…

I sculpted a Marvin the Martian for her (see the pic in my profile), and I’m supposed to sculp a Scooby-doo next, but I can’t find the time to complete it! On the other hand, she killed my latest Blue Angels Skyhawk. Since then, I’ve managed to get her to build a few models and she’s more appreciative of the time and efforts that go into those models and we have had no more regretable accidents ever since!
My wife’s a Titanic fan so I did 2 of them for her.
One is a pristine version and the other I did as a wreck diorama.
I’m normally a "plane guy "so this was an interesting diversion for me.
I’ve had a kit of the Constitution that she has wanted me to build for several years now but like I said about being a “plane guy” and the thought of all that rigging involved I’ve just been putting it off as long as possible…But now I think I’m going to start on it at least.
There is however one plane that she wants me to build-a B36. I hate NMF!!..(and there’s a lot of that on a B36)-and I’m not a fan of that bird anyway.-Figures!

My wife considers herself a “model widow” at times…
She appreciates the time and effort I put into my models because I try to share them with her, but mostly, she doesn’t get it.
She wants me to start building for myself again - I’ve built on a contract basis for clients for years and my collection keeps growing cuz I’m not building MY models. Maybe she just wants some shelf space back…

I have a 120mm mounted Red Lancer from Verlinden for my wife. (That just doesn’t sound right does it?)The stipulation was I had to paint the horse to match her horse.
She bought me the Tamiya German Calvary set to go into a diorama, (same stipulation) Sort of her contribution to the effort.
Actually I think she is asking me to build lots of stuff just to keep me out of her hair…But its o.k. I love her any way. I wonder if I can get her to ask me to build the new DML German Railroad Gun.

Model building is simply tolerated in my household.
At least that is what I am told.
She has no choice really.
If I did’nt build kits then I would be all up in her business and she would’nt want me constantly on her shoulder asking “whatcha doin” “whatcha doin”.
My wife did build with me for awhile but gave it up.
Her hobbys are the kids now.
And she is happier doing that.
WolfP, count your blessings!! Lots of guys aren’t that lucky! My fiance is the same way though. She bought me the Tamiya 1/16 Tiger I (display) for Christmas last year [:D] A good woman is hard to find!!

My wife and I have an understanding. I don’t mess with her flowers and plants, she doesn’t mess with my model building. She did ask me one time to plant a tree for her. She wanted it right out in the middle of the yard. I tried to convince her it wasn’t the best place for a tree, as it would be in the way when mowing with the lawn tractor. She got her way and I have to dodge around it each time I mow the yard.
So far, she has not asked me to do any modeling projects for her. It would be nice if she asked me to build a 1/48 scale aircraft carrier, complete with its air wing, for the front yard.

my wife did ask me to build her small ww2 plane…so first she bought 1/72 Corsair and i painted them…then she bought 1/72 P40 …this time she build it and i paint… next she saw the 1/350 Tamiya Enterprise…she beg me to buy it and build it for her…and that goes my hard earn money…hehe…anyway i agree with many of u…it’s the reason to buy new kits with fast approval from the-one-that-should-obey!!!
LAstly she ask me to convert my old Tamiya Panther to glossy yellow color just like her car…haha…very funny when i think how tank can be colored that way!!!

Gee-Bees, my girlfriend is crazy about the little kegs with wings ever since she saw one at the Aerospace museum. I am working on my third one now. The first was yellow/blue the second light blue/dark blue. The current one is in original ivory/red markings. It is a fun kit so I don’ t mind making them, no cockpit so they go together fast.
Not models, but I build her furniture and odds and ends whenever she asks. In return she is exceptionally supportive of my model building.
In fact yesterday, without being asked, she phoned around to the hobby shops to find one that had 40mil styrene I needed in stock. She also buys me tools for Christmas, so it is a very harmonious deal.
Minee ashed me to build her a 66 mustang herdtop once painted lime green. NOw she has asked for a new Beetle. Not a bad diversion for a ship modeler. Cars go together pretty quick since she doesn’t want the engines super detailed, yet.
Mine doesn’t ask for models (yet) and seems to like the fact that i am modeling because it keeps me out of the bar which I don’t mind. The daily hangovers aren’t missed and I have a LOT more money.
My fiance hasnt asked for anything to be built, but I bought a Titanic model for her for Christmas 2002, which is yet to be completed. and I also found a model of her first car (Mazda 323/Familia) which is going to be completed for either her birthday or Christmas this year. At least, with my birthday and Christmas coming up, I always manage to get a couple of kits that I really want, such as a Ford Focus and Subaru Impreza rally cars, for one Christmas, and a Citroen Xsara this year.
Ah its a wonderful life.

I wish I could just build my gal a model of a '66 mustang. She has me scouting the papers for a 1/1 scale basket case '65-'67 convertible to build for her. Just what I need another project.
