The first trailer is out and hardly any comments on it. Personally, I am excited! The trailer looked good and hopefully the movie will bring the original models back to life. I liked The Force Awakens well enough, but I think that I am actually more excited to see what they do with this story line. To me this is kind of like Star Wars Rebels in live action. What do you all think?
I had not been all that entralled about Rouge One, not sure why. Then i saw the trailer. proper Stormtroopers and AT-AT’s gets my vote any day. I think as we get more teasers, i will take more intertest in it.
I just hope we get some proper models out of it though.
And let us not forget that the release of Rouge One also kicks of the next Star Wars GB [;)]
I just checked out the trailer, looks good to me, but just ablout anything SciFi gets my vote.
It is all happening as I have forseen it!
I’m looking forward to it as well. Although after watching the teaser I feel like I should have waited to build my AT-AT and set it on the tropical beach. I suppose that just gives me an excuse to buy another kit…
I hated Episode VII,but surprisingly find myself a bit excited about Rogue 1.The fact that R1 deals with the original Death Star make that thing in E7 look even dumber.
I thought ep. VII was good, but it could have been better. I still don’t understand why after 30 yrs. There is still just a resistance force and the “new republic” doesn’t take a more active role against the first order. In the end it bit them bad.
Ye, i don’t quite get that one. While i did like VII, i have agree with those who say its almost a re-hash on Ep IV, and i think having a small band of resitance fighters is another nod to that. The only logical explanation is that the New Republic is weak after many years of war with the Empire after the death of the Emperor.
This.^
I have given up on thinking about the plot line of the Star Wars live-action movies. I have enjoyed watching “Star Wars Rebels” simply because it is a cartoon, and “suspension of belief” is much easier when watching a cartoon.
It is with that in mind that I do not hold out much hope for “Rogue One”. I’m sure it will be enjoyable, with only a “what was that all about” feeling. [;)]

My son and I are perplexed in exactly what Rogue One is supposed to be about. I liked the trailer and all, but what is the story? Is it something that takes place between episodes 6 and 7?
Its the story of how they got the plans for the first Death Star. So it taks place just before Ep IV.
Does this mean Kyle Katarn didn’t actually steal the Death Star plans? [;)]
Well, I am sure you know Disney (in their infinite wisdom) has thrown what was considered canon out. So they can make up any story line they want. I am hoping that this will inspire the modeling companies to get some new “old” ships out there. I hear Bandai has an A-wing in the works, who knows what else may come of this.
Frankly I still haven’t seen ‘TFA’ yet but I’m really looking forward to this one. I too want to see a ‘new’ SW movie rather than a rehash of the original plot. Plus I never really liked the Jedi, whenever I imagined myself as a SW character it was always a Han Solo type smuggler or a starfighter pilot.
I agree about Episode VII basically being Episode IV, but I still liked it. Maybe it’s because I went into it with no expectations, and the belief it couldn’t be as bad as Episode I. But I think they kind of had to do it the way they did to show that Disney could produce a movie that looked, and more importantly felt like Star Wars. I like Bish’s explanation for why the New Republic wasn’t more active against the First Order.
I am really looking forward to this. Its almost as if the Mouse is attempting to create a new “prequel” for those of us who hated the Lucas prequels and give us something of a new beginning before ep 4. Not that I hate the universe of the prequels, just the lousy writing in them. As for all the fanboy butthurt over Force Awakens, it was still a terrific movie, regardless of whatever overlays it had with ep 4. Remember New Hope came out 38 years ago! I think they can reboot the clock with a some overlay, just to get this new series of movies rolling. I am hoping that the Mouse makes at least one Star Wars themed movie per year, the SW universe is so vast they can make any number of subject movies, like this, that have nothing to do with Skywalkers or Solos, lets get a few more corners of the galaxy opened up and a few more new characters.
Hey Bob, you do have a point there about trying to get back to the original films. Just after going to see the second Abrams Trek movie- where he remade ‘Wraith of Khan’ and then find out for the ‘new’ SW movie he remade ‘Star Wars’ it’s kinda hard to get too excited.
Gee frelling whiz, it’s an entire galaxy of stories you can tell in ST or SW, I want new stuff!!! And this movie does sound like an exciting new story. Looking forward to it.
This takes place BEFORE ep 4 A New Hope, this is the story of how the Rebel spies get there hands on the plans for the FIRST Death Star, aforementioned in the title scroll for A New Hope.
I can definitely see where you’re coming from Gamera. I wasn’t all that impressed with the last Star Trek movie, and I don’t get all the hype about J.J. Abrams. I’m glad to be along for the ride and see how other directors and writers take on the Star Wars universe.
You know just about all the problems in the galaxy are directly related to the Jedi or Sith[6]. It would be good to see what other stories there are. I would like to see something with smugglers and/or bounty hunters as the main story and the ships they use and modify.
I would not mind a live action tv series like Star Trek TNG or the new Battlestar Galactica. I am sure they would have enough cgi models, they would just need characters (and good writers).
