Does anyone know when rockets were introduced for Airplanes in WW2?

I tried to look it up, but never got a difinative answer.

Thanks Spruce, Guess I wasn’t holding my mouth right LOL

So, basically, I can’t use the HVAR rockets for my P 38 or my P 47, bcause they are being built for 1943

USAAF ground support fighters did not start carrying rockets until later in the Normandy Campaign and the pursuit across France. In 1943 P-38s and P-47s would be used primarily for bomber escort and fighter sweeps in Europe.
