Rocket Power

Build slot #5 opened up on the workbench so I decided to do something that was different yet quick. I selected the Sierra Scale 1/48 Bereznyak B-1 rocket interceptor, a vac kit (yes I said quick).

Day one sees the cockpit coming together, painted and finished with some aftermarket Russian seatbelts and Mike Grant instrument decals.

Day two the primary pieces come together and putty is added to the seams.

Day three (today) the seams have been sanded down and the scratch built tail braces have been installed. She is ready to have the cockpit masked off for priming. The rocket burner is being detailed seperately and slides into the tail later on.

I think I will build this fully armed on skies. I feel the urge to experiment with some winter distressing. Must have been an interesting ride trying to land a rocket on skies.

Very nice. From what little I know of the BI-1, I think it looks just like it should. In my opinion, it looks very clean for a vac build.

Are you planning (paintwise) an actual aircraft, or a what-if operational winter scheme?

Keep up the good work!

Very nice work on the pit, Matt.

Regards, Rick

Thanks guys. Mike, this will be a what-if winter operational aircraft.
