Robert Conrad passed away

He was 84.

I was a fan of Black Sheep Squadron. Fly west, Pappy.

Awe man… bummer. Pappy died… taking that last flight out of Vella Lavella

Best known as James West. From the Wild, Wild, West

I had a nice chat with him on the ramp at Chicago Meigs. Early 80’s I suppose. I was taking my nephew to his first game at Wrigley Field.

I’ll remember that for life, we talked airplanes. He was so very nice to us.

Though we didn’t talk about anything except airplanes and flying, the Wild Wild West was a big part of my childhood (like many others here, I’m sure). Mr Conrad was one celebrity that I was sadder than usual to read about.

“Knock it off, I dare ya” The line may not be an accurate quote but there’s a memory a few of us may remember from the days we actually watched commercials. He put the Battery on his shoulder and issued the dare. Can’t rememer the brand by I’m thinking Eveready.

RIP Mr. Conrad. I loved the Wild Wild West. It was a little dark. I also remember a TV movie he was in for some reason. Breaking Up is Hard to Do. It was about divorced guys I think.

In Junior high, my dad and I would watch Combat, 12 O’Clock High, and Baa Baa Black Sheep. In high school it was Star Trek, The Avengers, and Wild Wild West.

I had a student ask me the other day who my favorite Avenger was? When I answered Emma Peel he looked at me like was from the moon…

Between Wild Wild West and Baa Baa Blacksheep, those were two of my favorite shows growing up. Thanks for the happy memories.

Willys, I gotta agree about your favorite Avenger… mine too!

As a kid I loved the Wild Wild West, as an adult I still do. Right now Jim West is probably sharing a heavenly drink with Miguelito Loveless.

God speed to ya Robert.

I LOVE that!!! [Y][Y][Y][Y]

Not only do I remember that, it’s one of the first things I think about every time I think of him.

Well;

We must all fly in to our base when the mission’s over. He’ll be missed by many of us. Semper Fi-Pappy!

I remember repeating that line using my bad impression of his bad French accent (Pasquale the French trader IIRC) in Centennial:

I dare you to knoc zis batterie ouf my shouldere!

Great memories…

And just why DID those vintage aircraft in Baa Baa Black Sheep always trail smoke but crash out of sight over the hills??

Sometimes it’s the little things that really stick in your mind. He was a great guy to watch in anything I ever saw him in.

Can’t imagine how many years (decades, probably) since I’ve seen that intro. It is so very familar, etched in memory, feels like yesterday.

That was a really cool intro, wasn’t it?

That it was…, and if I remember right, they used to cut each commercial break with a close out from the end of the last scene. It sure feels recent, if not last week, more like last month.

And for the Blacksheep fans…
