This is an older build but I’m anxious to try out my photobucket account. This is the 1/48 Monogram RF101B Voodoo. I did it in a sort of “what if?” scheme I guess. I envisioned it as a suedo-Blackbird recon plane. I accented some panel lines with semigloss clear and used some satin black here and there. I wanted some white markings and these are from an F-117 set, Superscale 32-102.

Well hell, ‘what-ifs’ are cool and this one is no exception. That looks pretty sharp!
Fade to Black…
Love how you did the engine exhusts…looks great!
Good looking model. The real bird would have looked even more deadly in that sceme.
Regards, Rick
now I want a voodoo![:D]
Thanks for the kind words everyone! Man, those Voodoos are just brutally beautiful. It hauled ****** without the area rule principle and it did it with brute force. I was continually amazed at how big the bird was during construction. This one turned out pretty good; I think my skills have kinda “plateaued”-I’m content to turn out these “4 footers” while I marvel at the masters who post on the forum. Thanks again, Gary
well, at least I hope they look good from 4 feet away…gb
Beautiful build.
[:)]
She’s a great looking 101 thanks for the pics…
Beautiful VooDoo, Tex… and sitting on the same tarmac as the “S” Model Cobra too! [:D] Maybe it’s a joint task force forming up? [:)]
Thanks,
Take care,
Frank
Definitely worth looking at. Gotta love these ‘what if’ builds.
Yeah Randie, I usually try to be very historically (hysterically?) accurate in my builds; but a “what if” project really lets you stretch your imagination. It’s fun to do one once in a while. I’m about half way through a hypothetical, modern-day Confederate Air Force F-1 Mirage, anti-shipping strike fighter in Gulf of Mexico theatre of operations camo. I hope to finish it soon. Thanks again, Gary.
Good looking aircraft. I really like how you did the exhausts. Great job.
Jerry
I like it…too bad the Air Force didn’t…think of it
Very nice work on the Voodoo. The only part I would critque is the TFW or Tac Fighter Wing on the aft fuselage and then the SAC, Strategic Air Command badge under the cockpit. General Curtis LeMay would roll over in his grave if he ever saw the SAC badge on a TAC fighter.

Thanks Jerry and crockett and yardbird!
Well yardbird, what can I say? I just got carried away I guess…mea culpa!
(shhh, if you don’t tell Lemay, then I won’t, lol. )
Thanks for the nice words anyway!
Gary
Super Great work! Black is such a hard color to make interesting but youve got it hands down[bow]
Thanks Jeff! I want to build an SR-71 to go with the Voodoo. Wouldn’t they make a handsome, tho’ lethal looking pair, sitting together on a shelf? I’m also toying with the idea of building my AM Tech TA-183 in an all-black night-fighter version.
btw: the front badge on the Voodoo’s fuselage represents the 37th Tactical Fighter Wing, while the rear most badge reads simply, Tactical Air Command. just a lil’ clarification folks!
Gary
I think the Voodoo looks really cool in a front view:

Gary,
You are correct about the badges. I didn’t look close enough the first time.

Hey yardbird, those things are just real hard to see! You shoulda seen me squinting with my reading glasses AND a magnifying glass, lol. I would damn this “gettin’ old” if the alternative didn’t suck so bad!!
Not a problem, thanks for keepin’ me honest, Gary
Cool Bird.Ithink the paint scheme makes it look faster than it already does.[8D]
