Here’s the finished 1/48 Hasegawa RF-4C that I built for a customer. It is OOB, with the exception of True Details seats and Fox One Decals (nice!). The camo was sprayed freehand, using Gunze acrylics for the Gray, Tan, and Dark Green, and Model Master enamel for the Medium Green and White. The aircraft doesn’t have Air Force wheels. They will be replaced by my customer, so these are just tacked in place with white glue. One of the nosewheels kicked out of alignment while I was moving the model to take the pics.
After painting the metallic tail sections with Alcad II (Aircraft Aluminum, Aluminum, Duraluminum, Dark Aluminum, Magnesium, and Steel) and giving it a Future overcoat, I washed it with oils. The drop tanks, gear, doors, and antennas were the finishing touches. Overall, a fun build and a nice change of pace for me (I build 1/48 WW II for myself).

That looks great. I remember seeing F-4’s flying all over the place growing up when we lived near Moody AFB in Valdosta GA. I’ve always loved that plane.

yardbird - I have a 1/48 Hasegawa F-86F-40 in the build pile that I want to build soon. I might consider some jets, as long as they’re not gray. I enjoy camo and metal finishes too much.

Seriously, this is one outstanding build, I am amazed at the detail. Your camo job is first rate as well. You should consider more jets, perhaps a Tiger Meet F-104? That would certainly NOT be a gray a/c! Anyway, thanks for sharing your talent and expertise with us all!
Beautiful job on the build pix. I got a few F-4’s in the stash, now after seeing you build this one I think that I will have to add that kit to the stash too.

Brian - I’ve been thinking of getting Hasegawa’s F-104, but I’d probably do it in NMF. An F-100 in SEA camo would be nice. I’ll have to see if I can find one.
