Howdy all, Can not believe this is my first “Fast Target” in almost 12yrs… So far I am liking how this kit is going together… There is not really any major clean up from what I can see. This build will be strickly OOB… First thing I did was to remove the factory chrome b/c it looks well toyish and a little on the thick side to boot… So I went to the Alcad Chrome for assistance… Very very impressive indeed especially w/ the Alclad Gloss Black primer undercoat. As for everything else, it is straight forward… The only other thing I did was drilled the exghaust a lil more to give some depth. Not to sure of the exact colour I am looking for but possibly on the way of Black Cherry!! Without further due, here are some pix… Hope you enjoy!! The last two pix are the before & after of the kits chrome platting and the use of Alclads Chrome… [tup] (Unfortunately the Alclad does not really show up as well as it does in person) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks fer lookin… Flaps up, Mike Rangers Lead The Way |

Excellent work Mike! Love the yellow traction bars, reminds me of my old '70 Challenger R/T. [sigh]
HI That’s a great start you have made on that Nova kit. I really like what your doing with it and look forward to seeing it finished. I owned a 69 Nova V8 4speed with Keystone mags and 60series Tiger Paw tires and I can tell you it was a fun car to drive.
Mckay[C):-)]
Nice to see a WIP thread up here–we get far too little of them here!
This looks really nice! I have to try that ALclad stuff–is it difficult to work with? I really like the results there!
I’ll be watching this post!
Howdy Frank, Something different huh? I figured the yellow traction bars would stand out a lot on an over all Back car. Ah yes the Challenger…!! Any pix by chance? I still wish my Dad had his 67 RS Camero and his 64 Malibu… Now those were some cars!! Thanks fer lookin!! Mckay, I am glad you are truly likin what I am doing thus far…!! So far so good and really nothing to complain about for once!! They sure are fun to drive… Kind like this right… 72 w/ a 350, 4 speed… Boy can she scream!! ![]() Hey doog, I know what you mean, they seem nill to none around these parts… Sad when ya stop n think about it… As for the Alclad… This stuff is unbelieveable…!!! With this you just have to have patients b/c the gloss black primer is really thin and it takes multiple coats to get a nice base layer. When appling the Chrome itself, its a little different in the fact even though it is thinned a lot already, it does not take as much to cover and to get that “Chrome” look… AH ya never know, you may see this @ Syrcon[:P] Thank you for staying tunned my friend Flaps up, Mike Rangers Lead The Way |

Butz, Great Car Kit and Progress. This will be a nice project to follow, I hope to pick up some new tips with your progression. I have many of “The Old Pro” Nova kits hid away in my stash. Had a '69 SS 1/1 myself years ago but it met a sad fate. Hey that Nova you posted sure looks like a '73 vintage. Since you have a soft spot for '67 RS Camaro’s here is one of my old project cars still looming about out on my Dad’s ranch in Colorado. He is always wanting me to do something with it as he claims he gets tired of people “pestering” him about it. When in fact he enjoys the company at his age…
Hey Summit, When you own the 1/1 thing, you’d think I could get the year right? My neighbor has a 72 that is awaiting a ground up restoration… Wow… Got to love the lines on the ol RS’s and I love the rims on her too. As for the grill, I am not to familiar w/ that one? Is that the hide-a-way light set up? Then again it may just look funky b/c the car is in the in between stages. Anywho back to the build… Thank you for the compliments my friend… We will both learn stuff from my build!! Again thank you for checkin this out and for staying tuned… An update will be sometime later today. Flaps up, Mike Rangers Lead The Way |

Well I am makin progress but at a slow speed… This is where I am at the moment. I started to assemle the engine. I painted up the oil pan w/ Alclad Chrome however, this time I did not use the Black primer but painted right over the white plastic… It turned out rather sweet I think… As you see, the engine is far from being complete…!! I also had a chance to paint the interior flat black… Now as I am typing, I am going to apply a few light coats of Satan Black… We shall see shall we!!! One thing to note, I do not know why but the seat halfs do not fit worth a darn… If I line up the head rest the lower section on one side is way off… Will do some lil research… Hopefully I will be able to tackle more of the engine in the wee hours… Well here we go with the pix… Any comments/tips more than welcome!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Mike its about time for you to blow the dust off this thing and give us an Update ! [:-^]
Hey Sean,
Do aplogize that I did not get back to your PM… My lil guy was sick and this weekend when I had him, he decided to get Pink Eye… It’s nice when the “x” doesn’t tell ya stuff like that GGrrrr
Anywho, you must have read my mind… A little later on I will post more WIP’s on the Super neat Nova…
I have not forgotten… Yes the dust is off and I think I can hear the engine tryin to turn over…[:P]
So be on the look out for updates… I am off to bed but I will respond to your PM in the morn…
Flaps up,
Mike

Howdy ya’ll,
It sure has been awhile but I took the Nova off the back burner… A fellow member wanted to see me tackel it so be it…!! Lol
What really got me goin besides chattin with Sean, I picked up Reveel’s new 68 Dodge Charger R/T and what a beaut…
BUT… Lo & Behold the kit also gives you Cragers rims and I have been searching hi n lo for the ones I wanted to use…!! Tada[bow]
However I had to buy a second kit b/c the rims come in two sizes… Smaller rims for the front and larger ones for the rear slicks for the drag variant… The two R/T’s wont go to waste fer sure!!
The engine is almost complete with the exception of adding on the exhaust manifolds and the air cleaner. The A.C in it self is a whole other story…[banghead]
The interior is 90% complete with the exception of the front seats… I can’t remember who but there is another gent who is building the same exact car and wondered if he ran into this problem…
The upper and lower portions of the seats fit rather poorly… The upper section is a little more narrower than the lower half which means some sanding and dry fitting
Other than that I truly love this kit and it has been a blast thus far… There are a few more odd n ends that I need to do before I can apply the paint to the body and also have to clean up all the major components that will receive the Polished Chrome by Alcad…
Which reminds me, I am in the process of removing the factory chrome from the Cragers as I type… Aahh the smell of Lemon Amonia…[yuck] However it gets the job done with out a hitch…
Anywho Sean are you ready fer some updates my friend? Well without further delays, here they are… Comments welcomed…
PS, do apologize for the pix, usually the flash helps out a lot in terms of the detail… well tonight it must have had an off day!!..
Thanks fer lookin folks & Happy New Year!!

Mike - I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this Blip up on the forum. Wow my friend that dash just makes me Green with envy.[xx(] How did you make it look so crisp ? Excellent work, even the ingnition lock on the column looks ready to stick the key in.
The console is made up of four gauges and should have a split separating the left from right
The guage color for the Nova is Silver not white (Camaro Pictured) I am glad to see you have un~tarped the nova and started work on it again.
MIKE, SEAN, FRANK…Now I know were your hidin. Your busted. I dont normaly stop by here, but when I saw your name Mike, I just had to look. Good job so far. I think it will be a good lookerHavent touched a wheely thingy in plastic for maby 30yrs! Dont plan on going back either. But keep it up my friend. The rest of you, I
ll deal with later!..Harv
Howdy Sean,
LMAO… O my gosh I am laughin so hard I have tears!![(-D] The dash was ab’d flat black then a satin finish was sprayed on…
As for the actual instrumentations, thats called a decal… Lol They give you two options, one is the stock variant while the other is more modern for the drag Nova…
HOLY COW… Thank you fer reminding me Sean, I almost forgot to apply the decals for the console gauges… Phew glad I posted seriously!!
That wouda sucked later on when she was buttoned up!! Glad you liked and thank you for the compliments…
Hey Harv,
Please help… “They” kidnapped me and brought me over to the wheely side of things… Lol… Glad you liked…
I am glad I bought that 68 Charger, if I hadn’t I am sure Sean would of got me but good fer leavin it on the back burner…
Updates to come…

Early morn,
Well I tackled the Crager’s and wow… In a previous posting, I mentioned that I took off the factory chrome with the aid of amonia… Well once again, Alclad has yet to let me down*…(knocken on wood[banghead])* I started off by air brushing Alclad’s gloss black… After letting it sit for about an hour maybe a lil less I began light coats of Alclad’s Chrome…
The results are unbelieveable… I am not sure if I am going to do this but, how would the tires look with a “red wall”? Kind of like how the original Hot Wheels were!! Whadya think? A lil over the top?
Anywho, here are a few pix… Hope ya’ll enjoy!!

Mike, quite an improvement! Your doing a bang up job!!..Harv
That’s a great looking finish your putting on the wheels. Keep up the great job your doing.
Mckay[C):-)]
Mike - the wheels really stand out with the alcad.[tup] Someday I might try that stuff if I come across some at the LHS. You do make it look to easy though.
Question - Now that you have went and cherried out your Nova with Aftermarket wheels , what are your plans for the Original Ralley Wheels ? I know of a certain Camaro sitting up on blocks [:-^] If the tires are Bias the would look right with the red line - Radials No
Howdy Harv & McKay,
I am glad you both like… And yes those rims are an improvement fer sure and the Craigers are just what the doctor ordered!!
Hey Sean,
Easy?? Kinda sorts… It took a lil practice b/c I too was a little nervous in terms of working with Alclad non the less chrome… One thing I think scares me the most is if I were to mask over the Alclad once cured for a few days… This is more for NMF’d aircraft…
I here it is really tough once dry b/c once the tape has been pulled, nothing comes up with the tape but… GGrrrr
Anywho, I sprayed about four light coats of the chrome and this is how they turned out… Since I am not all to familiar with this stuff, I figurred light coats would work just fine!!
So a certain Camero is lookin for Ralley rims huh?? Do you mind if they are already done up w/ the Alclad Chrome? If not there yours…!!
As for the tires, they are plan Jane with no writing on them whats so ever!! And thank you fer the comments and suggestions…
Much appreciated

Mike
