Slightly on topic [:)], The kit looks like a fun build. I would do it as a Dime-Store build and paint the markings on! Hans, Is this the type of kit you were thinking of for round 2 of the Monogram Mafia?
Pretty much… It’ll be more af a “If the Kit Cost More Than About 1.50 in 1968 or Wasn’t on the Market Yet, Then You Can’t Build It” Mafia…
Kits would be centered around Monogram, Revell, Lindberg, Hawk, Renwal, Life-Like, Aurora, etc., and the subsequent reboxings of same … Probably needs a snappier title though, no? Maybe “The Dime-Store Mafia” GB…
How about: “The Founding Fathers” or “The Five Families”(Lindberg, Hawk, Revell, Aurora, Pyro)?
Mike, I greatly apologize! I mispoke. The kit we picked up was a '77 Monte Carlo. I’m thinking (and that’s where my problems tend to start) that I had my cousin’s “new” car on my mind. He just got himself a '73 Mustang Grande. He had one back in the mid '70s so this is his way of reliving his yoot.
Hans, as a rule I never take part in group builds simply because it might take me half a year or more to finish a simple build (time constraints and all that). But there’s that part in me which just loves those old dime store quality kits. This “dime store mafia” group build is one I could definitely see myself jumping into with both feet! If you get it going, you can definitely count me in. One question for you though. Would the Polar Lights “Tyranosaurus Rex” qualify or not? Just curious.
Eric
Dunno for sure… Isn’t Polar Lights re-boxing old Aurora kits? If that’s the case, then something like that would fly, yeah…
