Revell's F-18E

Anybody know any details about this upcoming kit? Is it really a Revell USA kit or the one from RG or Italeri?

Nobody knows about this? Go to the Revell/Monogram website and check it out under 1/48 aircraft.

Sigh.

Here it is: http://www.revellmonogram.com/store/ModelDetail.cfm?Id=592

out04,
I made the same inquiry about a month ago and recieved no responses. If you don’t get any responses on this site I can almost guarantee you no one knows.

Gee, it took about a year! I found this while ‘googling’. It’s from a late 2003 post from www.aircraftresource.center

The kit listed for future release is an all new “Super Bug”. The word I got on it at the 2003 IPMS Nats here in OKC is that the same team that did Revell’s F-15E Strike Eagle was doing the work on the F-18E. Hasegawa was going to team up with R/M and issue an F based on what Revell came up with. Right now it’s been delayed until September, but judging by the caliber of the Strike Eagle I’m anxious to see the new Super Hornet.

i wouldnt build that plane worth a darn.

BRING BACK THE F-14!!!

The revell-monogram its a very good NEW MODEL of the super hornet. It’s
exactly what we are waiting for. And the best is that its NOT EXPENSIVE.
THE QUALITY IS THE SAME THAT THE REVELL-MONOGRAM RAFALE

Out04,
The new Revell F-18E, is a new model all together and not a re-boxed kit. Revell hit the mark with this kit, i’m glad to say. I’m not evan a huge Hornet fan and i can’t wait to clear my desk of current projects and get started. Run out and buy the darn thing![:D]

and hopefully the same team that did this kit will re-tool Revell’s A-10!!

happy modeling,
BW

The new model of the super hornet is REVELL #85-5519. The logo in the box don’t say MONOGRAM. Just watch the pictures in the box and you see the diference and great detail.
The re-boxed Italery kit by Revell has almost the same boxart but with ONLY one aircraft on the box. THE NEW REVEL(MONOGRAM) BOX HAS TWO AIRCRAFTS ON THE BOXART.

Out04 yes this kit is out and I purchased one at Hobby Lobby for around $20.00 ! The kit is of outstanding quality and tooling. The weak point of the kit is the decals as usual, much to thick. I ordered Two Bobs Top Hatters for my kit. Anyhow if you live near a Hobby Lobby they are having a 50% off sale right now so if your store has the Hornet you can get two for one[:D][:D][:D]

Here’s a recent review of it from Hyperscale:

Will most definately be picking up one (at least!)[:D]

I just got my copy of RM F-18E. I’m probably the first one to have the kit from where I come from. Anyhows, I need help. I agree about the decal markings of the RM kit, that they’re too thick which is why I’ve purchased a TwoBobs decal sheet more than a year a ago in anticipation. I actually got the OIF Screaming Eagles markings of VF 115, dedicated to the firemen who lost their lives saving lives during 9/11. My question is that the RM kit has AIM 9X Super Sidewinders at the wingtips which I understand are new and weren’t deployed in 2003. Do the Screamin Eagles exist today in their original markings for me to use the new missiles? Would it still be accurate if I put the missiles?

Joel,

Try this link for pics from VFA-115. I don’t see the new AIM-9X on any their their aircraft in the last two cruises, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have them now.

At the very least you’ll need to change the carrier name, they are not on the Lincoln right now.

Joe

Thanks, guys. Will reconsider then. TwoBobs has also got decals for the same version of planes as the ones featured on RM’s box art, the ones on the Nimitz. I might grab one of those and keep the screamin eagles as a souvenir.

I just purchased TwoBobs ‘Super Gugs’ decals for the three versions of F-18E’s on the USS Nimitz. The artwork is very nice. I particularly like the minute ‘no step’ signs which are rare on 1/48 decal sheets these days. One important observation is that the long strips of decals provided by the RM kit, featuring the top hatter emblem placed on the top of each side of the fuselage, are far too big. These red markings (grey on the low visibility versions) are a lot smaller on the aftermarket versions which is also evident on photos I have from the book F-18E by Detail and Scale and some magazines. For a kit as good as the RM kit, it’s worth getting the sheet from TwoBob’s.

Joel

Hi, could you give me the Decal Sheet Number for those F/A-18’E’ markings you purchased for the new Revell kit?

Thanks!!!
