Can anyone e-mail- or send me a copy of the building instructions, and rigging instructions for the Revell 1/96 scale USS Constitution[?] My daughter is building this kit, and somehow both directions got lost somewhere when I cleaned the shop. This will really get me out of the doghouse!

I lost my set a long time ago too, but I was told by someone who works for Revel that you can contact the company and request a new copy of the instructions. Mine is already on it’s way. I got their address from their website.

Depending on how old your release is- (mine is new so there is a lot of cleanup on the parts- the mold os quite old now…) if you have an older release- you should be fine.
It is a great kit but it does require a lot of patience and knot trying skills!

I’m currently at the exact same spot as your first photo on the website link you gave - I just installed the ship’s wheel. Do you have any suggestions for how to hide the deck seams? I had fairly large gaps which I filled with putty and sanded, but now it is hard to make it look consistent with the rest of the deck with its highlighted woodgrain. I drybrushed some black over the patches, which helped a bit but it’s still somewhat apparent. I suppose it won’t stand out so much once the rigging goes in…

Yeah those 3 deck pieces are a pain. I did mine this way:
-glued them in place BEFORE painting- used putty and CA glue to fill the seams.
-paint thinned flat black with brush. (just add alittle thinner- you don’t want gobs of paint)
-next day paint dark tan- thinned and brush painted
-next day- paint a light coat of sand thinned with brush
When all dry- I used various sanding grits in one direction (bow to stern) with heavy attention over the seams…this gives the nice variations of color and looks like worn wood. And the seams were hidden quite well.
I knew if I painted the 3 pieces separately and then glued them in- how the heck would I be able to smooth the seams and keep it looking like wood? My method worked OK.
And as you say- when you add ALL the rigging- no one will even look at the deck!
