looks great, what all did you use for the weathering?
I like it it; it shows a lot of craftsmanship, but I do think the rusting is a bit excessive for an operational boat, especially on the conn…
It does look terrific, although I agree that the weathering is a bit excessive. I hope mine turns out half as nice!

I don’t mind the weathering; it looks like it has been out on a very long sea patrol towards the end of the war… One thing that bothers me though… Shouldn’t there be some sort of anti-fouling paint on the bottom (black or dark gray)?
I believe you are right…as far as the rust being due to late war that would not be possible as this is an early type VII, still fitted w/ net cutters…these were abandoned very early in the war…It is still nice work, just over-rusted, IMO…

Sorry i havt responed , just been a grand d. Thanx to the rsponses from , smokinguns53, manstien, warship, enemeink, searat12, namvet66. As to smokng, weathrng was from the dark side, lol ,raw umber oils , burnt umber oils & real rust from steel wool. First try at ships, once u go drk side, its tough to come back. May hav over done, It plses me. thats what is important.
As for manstien , yea the dark side showed up, wanted well used, 552 was, pic is mid war not early. late lost the cable cutters. Early, to ,mid used them. 552 was highly decored, both mid & late .
searat12 from what was givng to me pic wise early- to late no anti fouling. thats why grey wovles. two to three shades of grey, & hunted in paks. that was what givn to me , If im wrong, im sorry. I model to pls me or my custmers
