Hello all. I recently scored one of each kit (The newer releases of both)through some back-alley dealing. While they are in transit to me I’ve been reading up on both kits. Standard logic dictates that the Hasegawa kit should be the better offering. However,the reviews seem to lend themselves to considering the Revell F-15 as the greatest thing to happen to modeling since plastic, whereas the Hasegawa kit is offered up as a decent paperweight. I focus more on naval aircraft since, c’mon, is there anything prettier than an F-14, so I’m not too up to speed on the Eagle. I understand the Hasegawa kit does not offer the correct engine nozzles and correct bulged wheel doors and is really more a -D model with extra parts thrown in, but is that it? What else makes the Hasegawa offering such an albatross?
The revell kit is better designed, better engineered, and fits pretty well. I would build that one if I were you.
Pick up some extra weapons though. It only has fuel tanks and 4 sidewinders.
Actually the early “E” was a modified “D” model, number 217 I think it was.
