Revell U.D.T. found

hello,
I bought a box of models about 15 of them for thirty dollars at a r/c convention and one of the boats that was in there was Revell’s U.D.T. I had been opened but all the parts were still there. So i started to build it and now i am at the point to paint it. I am prety sure that this kit is discontinued but does anyone know when it was discontinued? It also came with a seal team kit that you tie a raft to the side of it. I think that I should get a mold casting kit so i can make duplicates. Kinda like the artical in this months FSM.
thank you,
seakinght

Oh, brother does this one bring back memories! It’s an old Monogram kit, from the late fifties or early sixties. I have no idea when it last appeared - but if yours has a Revell label it must be fairly recent. Monogram and Revell merged only a few years ago.

As I remember, it isn’t a bad replica of an LCPR. (My memory is not to be relied upon, though; I don’t think I’ve seen the kit for at least thirty years.) I do remember one feature of it that probably is unique in the history of scale modeling. The scuba tanks on the backs of the UDT swimmers (they weren’t called SEALS in those days) were molded in halves, and the modeler was instructed to use plenty of glue in cementing them together - so they’d be watertight, and the figures would float. Mine spent some quality time in the bathtub.

I bought this kit for my nephew within the last few years so if it’s out of production it can’t have been for long.

It’s was re-released under the SSP program(limited release) by Revell-Monogram in the early 90"s. Not a bad kit from the early day’s on modeling. It would be nice if the released it again.

As I recall, for a long time it was the only source of 1/32 -1/35 scale boat crew figures that were wearing Navy Kapok life jackets.

Can anyone post pics of this kit or it’s box? I’m drawing a blank.
