Hello, dear colleagues! I’d like to present a 1:24 scale model of the Oldsmobile 442 (1971) by Revell. This is my second model. The assembly is pleasant, the parts fit together well. Revell is great, they make nice kits (they even sent me the decals because I ruined the boxed ones). I painted the interior and engine with Revell enamel paints, tried spray paint on the body, and then finished with Revell clear varnish.
I didn’t add anything to the design, although I’m thinking of learning how to open the doors and trunk in the future; that will be more interesting.
Cars of that era are truly stunning in their aesthetics… Today, you look at an electric “iPad on wheels” and wonder who made it? In my opinion, modern cars have no personality…
I painted based on the basic instructions provided by Revel, and also noticed this feature… I think this is due to the fact that all the internal engine lining and fenders are red, and accordingly, the bottom also remained red.
Thank you so much, I actually changed the body color from the yellow-green that was in the instructions to orange. I found actual photos of this model in orange.
I sometimes drool at the older american muscle cars. Such simple yet beautiful shapes ! They are hard to acquire here in France, and obviously pretty pricey, and obviously not very adapted to our roads, but I’d love to own a classic Camaro, Mustang, Charger, Challenger, Firebird, Oldsmobile…
Nowday cars however are amazing too, just look at the cybertruck ! ( And before I ruin my good name : That’s sarcasm.)
Great looking car you got there. I love the color !
Wait…did you say that this is your second model??!! This thing looks pretty dang snazzy bud.
Love the color and love all of the detail work that you put into it Dima.
I got sucked down a YouTube rabbit hole the other day and watched a video on a 1950’s Chevrolet Bel Aire they had a vacuum line to suck the ash off your cigarette and a chrome plated tissue box holder that rotated under the dash. It was completely tricked out. I couldn’t believe all the extras.
Thank you for the kind words! I’m truly touched by so many compliments and people’s passion for modeling! Yes, this is my second attempt at making cars, but I have prior experience with armored vehicles (about 8-9 tank models in 1/35 scale).
