I had a problem with decal film yellowing after my first attempt at overcoating with Future and at first thought Future might be the problem. However, recently I had the same problem again using a completely different clear overcoat and realized that the only thing the two incidents had in common was the fact that in both cases it was a Revell/Monogram kit. Has anyone out there ever had a similar problem with R/M decals? Never heard of it, but I’m still stumped as to the cause.
Although you didn’t notice it, it is most likley that the flim was yellowed before you applied them due to their age. R/M prints decals in huge batches and it may have been several years before you bought the kit. You would need to tape them to a window for a month or so and allow the sun to bleach the yellow out. Carefull to leave a space between the sheet and the glass as you do not want condensation to form and ruin the sheet. I’m sure some one will fill in more info.
