Revell-Monogram 1/48 F-16C Thunderbird Question?

Hey,

I just aquired an old OOP kit of the Revell-Monogram 1/48 F-16C Thunderbird Deluxe Kit (kit#85-6663, 1998) and I’d like to know if anyone has built this kit? As I was inspecting the kit and details I noticed this particular kit has no cockpit instrument detail molded at all and the canopy is a one piece. Cockpit tub and front panel are devoid of any instrument detail. Now what I’d like to know is if there is anyone that scratch built the cockpit using the tub and panel the kit came with and how did you do it? What products did you use? How did it turn out?

I’d like to try scratch building the office using the cockpit parts it came with when I am ready to start building it. Hoping to learn something new here. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Air Master

EDIT: I have no plans to build this Falcon as a T-Bird so if anyone wants a set of Thunderbird decals in 1/48 send me an email with mailing address.[:D]

Ok, are you guys trying to tell me no one has ever scratch built a 1/48 scale cockpit for an F-16???

Hey AM,

Ever thought about using Black Box’s aftermarket interior?? Its really well done… To answer your question, I have not fully scratch built an interior for a Falcon but I have done scratch building while using the AM set.

Good luck my friend.

Flaps up, Mike

Mike,

I’d like to avoid using a resin detail set so I was thinking of getting PE bezels, PE printed cockpit instrument set, maybe a set of instrument decals just in case and just adding them to the front panel and tub this kit came with. What do you think?

AirMaster;

What I’d do if I where you on the Revell/Monogram F-16C’s “Office”, is first buy the Eduards F-16C PE set (this set is actually for the Hasegawa F-16C’s but it’ll work for what your doing and this set is about 1/2 the cost of the Black Box set), and a True Details ACES II ejection seat, the scratch build the floorbard/side console part to accomadate the new seat, then do the build with the PE set, and you wont be disappointed

Thanks Cuda!

Ok guys. I’ve been looking at PE cockpit/instrument detail sets and there are three that stand out:

Eduard 1/48 F-16C Detail…EDUFE132 for Italri ( set for Hasagawa not listed on GM web site)

Parts Accessories 1/48 F-16C Detail…PTS48031… Generic

Eduard F-16A Plus Fighing Falcon Interior…EDU49276 (prepainted)

I found these at Great Model.com and can’t decide which one is best. I really like the Eduard prepainted F-16A set but this Falcon is going to be a “C”. I’m thinking I should buy two sets and mix and match to get a “C” varient cockpit.

What do you guys think? [%-)]

EDIT: I cant find the Eduard F-16C Detail for Hasagawa and not sure the set for Italri will work. I may settle on the Parts Accessories set
