i’m building revell’s 1/72 mh-53j (04491) and i am haveing some troubles with the sensors that go on the nose. i spent ages sanding and dry fitting them before gluing them and applying the nesesary filler, now when the kit is almost completed i realised that the sensors are angeled slightly to the right and it is not angeled much but it is annoying me alot so could you please share some advice on what i should do about it, should i just leave it and ignor it (which is hard) or should i attempt to take it off and reposition it (and if so how?).
buy the way i am only 15 years old so any advice would be 100% welcome
Welcome to the forums! If it’s Revell, I’d take it apart, and assuming something breaks (which it probably will), you can then order a replacement part from Revell. To minimize the chances of losing a part, you should try to cut through the glue and filler - my choice would be a hook knife (a tool used for scribing and cutting plastic sheets/plates) and/or a razor saw - a tool you can buy or make yourself by cutting fine teeth in an old razor blade (I mean that old, thin, flexible, replaceable blade). That’s about all I can think of now. You have a great chance to test your glue joints for strength now and you learn th hard way to align everything properly… Good luck with your build - and post some pictures! Have a nice day
I don’t see anything off in the pics. I would leave it as is. It looks like a pretty nice build so far. It would be a shame to ruin that nice finish. Good job.
They look fine to me. You are being too critical. Your model looks great. Once you finish it up, you should take some good pics of it against a solid background. Good job so far.
This hobby is full of us OCD types. At some point we have to remember that the only we see the issues. None of use would have ever seen the “issue” with the sensors if had not pointed it out. Point made that even with the photos we couldn’t see it.
your right. i think my mind palyed it out (the issue) to be much worse than it actualy was.now i don’t care at all that the sencors are mis aligned by 1 degrees or somthing. unless i look hard at them and get a ruler or a protractor i just don’t notice it. that was a good point to be made, thanks.
heres my MH-53j Pave Low III completed. the kit is great but is discontinued and hard to get your hands on. it took me about 6 weeks and here are the pics of the finnished product. hope you like it. all comments and tips are welcome, thanks.
