That’s crazy about the customer service from Revell. Every time I’ve shot 'em off a parts request I get a a reponse the next business day. I don’t mean to insult your intelligence but it’s happened to me before. Did you use this page?

HI,I AM IN THE UK,SO I HAVE GOT TO DEAL WITH THE GERMANY DEPARTMENT.IF I WAS IN THE US IT WOULD BE A LOT EASIER.NOT INSULTED AT ALL MY FRIEND.

Hello!

Once I spoke over telephone with a very nice lady from the Revell customer service, and she told me that after every Christmas they get swamped with so many parts requests, that it takes them until April to serve them all and after that they are able to process the parts requests next day. So please give them some time, and if your only problem are traces of glue from the masking tape, maybe you should try to clean it up with some mild solvent that wouldn’t harm the paint? After most paints dry really well - like a week or so, you can clean a lot of things up using airbrush thinner or Mr. Color thinner from Gunze - try on scrap material first, to avoid any nasty surprises. Good luck with your build and have a nice day

If it’s tape residue, you can use some cigarette lighter fluid to remove it. It shouldn’t affect the plastic, just keep it off the paint.

Hi guys, got an email from revell Germany,no spare parts as it is discontinued, will just have to try and sort the windows myself.

Could you give us an idea of the type of marks you are dealing with?, Paint?, tape residue? scratches in the plastic?

There are many techniques to overcome most of these types of issues. Also there is the complete replacement of the windows with a clear plastic/acrylic such as found in packaging or food containers .

Hi,sorry for the delay, something called work got in the way.

Back to the kenworth,I used maskol on the windows before I sprayed the cab,on taking the maskol off it had left the windows in an awful state,I tried thinners,a window cleaner but no joy,I have never had any issues using maskol until now,I will just need to try and make a template and create new ones.

Glad you are able to get back to it.

As a thought for next time if you were to dip the windows in Future (or whatever it’s called now) let that dry before your Maskol , that may give the windows enough protection to resist any further problems . Should you have a repeat of the problem, you could then just remove the Future (Windex works) and remove the Maskol along with it.

Guess that would be a “mask” for the Maskol ----oww! makes me head hurt

jazzsoul60 - it’s always good to take a look at a nice truck model, but why is that photo so blurry? Could you please post a better one? Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

It is a scan of a photo.

I hope you can stick around long enough to fix the issues and get it finished. I’d soak the windows in a vat of super duty oven cleaner like “Mr Muscle Caustic” (avoid the non-caustic versions). soak it over night and scrub it off the next day. if you’re in the usa, look for an auto cleaning solution called Purple Power.

If that doesn’t work, replace the window glass with flat clear acetate sheet. cut up old packaging or buy overhead projector sheet. glue them in with white-glue

Focus is on the background, not the model

Hi guys, thanks for all the help.I have not got around to fixing the windows yet.I will get it finished and get some pictures on here, just finished a revell peterbilt 359 conventional.so there will be pictures of that one as well.
