Revell Kearsarge parts?

Hello all-

Can you stand another question about the Revell Kearsarge kit? Well, here goes.

I’m new to this forum, and can’t find a similar inquiry, so forgive me if this is covered elsewhere. I recently obtained a 1971-produced Revell Kearsarge. I have wanted to get one of these for a while now, but the prices they fetch on eBay are usually steep. This kit was affordable, but has some significant pieces missing, such as the forepeak deck, a couple of guns, the pinrails, and a couple of yards. It was listed as a “parts kit,” and I bought it knowing full well there were bits missing. I may end up finding an intact kit, and using this one as a parts source myself, but I would like to find out if there is an alternative.

Does anyone know of a source for the missing pieces? I scratch build ship models in wood, and could fashion what’s needed myself, but odd as this may seem, I would want to build the model “pure,” that is as an all-plastic kit, with the possible exception of blocks and deadeyes. This might be a bit of nutty Romantic nostalgia for the 70s on my part, I don’t know.

Anyway, any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Ken B.

Try contacting Revell of Germany via their website. They have been very helpful in the past providing missing or damaged parts for free and offering complete hull sections for some of my wilder modelling projects.

I have most of the parts for the kit. Will send you an email.
