Revell Italeri

Looking on E-Bay for 1/35 scale Jeep kit’s I saw this Italeri Jeep marked Revell Italeri . When did this happen. Last I heard was something about a new distributor in the U.S. I have not been on line much this past summer so this may very old news.

Revell have been re-boxing Italeri kits for years, as have Tamiya. Is this the kit your reffering to.

That kit is 42 years old. Notice the spelling- Italaerei was the name of the company from about 1968 to 1978. Then it was changed to Italeri so those of us unfortunates not speaking Italian could pronounce the name.

I think Revell Italaerei was a marketing arrangement that was short lived. Most of those kits I’ve seen date from around 1977.

Thanks to Scalemates.

Off topic, but that jeep driver is about to get a bit of a hotfoot.

Revell also retooled and released the Willys Jeep with extended fenders and a .50 cal. Fairly nice kit, but they do not include the softtop or the driver figure.

We STILL can’t pronounce the name! I’ve heard it pronounced ‘itttle-AIR-y’, ‘EYE-talery’ and one or two more that I can’t bring to mind…

LOL!

According to the ARC Forums, “According to the company, and to the rules of Italian pronunciation, it’s pronounced: ee-tal-AIR-ee”

I’d agree with that, although I have been to places in Italy where people speak two or three dialects, and maybe a non-italian language as their first language, so it’s not a set thing.

My own version would be as Rob posted, with the first syllable a little softer, like the english word “it”.

Yes, I pronounce it “it-tal-AIR-ee”.
