I just bought the Revell 1/72 Gato, very big and very nice, waiting for aftermarket PE for this kit. I am now very interested in getting the Revell 1/72 VIIc and my model shop owner advised it is not available any more. I did some research and Revell released the VIIc “Wolf Pack” kit #05015 back in late 2003 and I believe this is the one that is not available any more unless I find it on a shelf somewhere or a model show vendor table. But on the Revell website they show they released VIIc “Atlantic Version” kit #05045 so he should be able to order this kit for me.

Anyone build the Revell 1/72 VIIc kit (either one)? What are all the available aftermarket PE sets for this kit?

All sorts of aftermarket stuff is available for these kits:

CMK makes crew figures and some interior compartments.

Hecker & Goros also make figures.

Eduard makes a PE set for the kit

White Ensign also makes a PE set, as well as add-on/replacement 20mm guns as well as a torpedo loading set.

Nautilus Models makes a laser-engraved wooden deck and a replacement conning tower, similar to the one in the later Atlantic-boat but without the schnorkel.

Yankee Modelworks makes a pressure-hull top to improve the signt-lin when you open the limber holes.

There used to be some turned brass periscopes, but the creator has since died.

There was another conning tower by Warhammer, but I believe they stopped production.

There may be several others I’ve left out.

Google the manufacturer’s names any you should come up with their websites with more info on these products.

…and don’t forget the U-Brass flood/vent set available at WEM (White Ensign Models): Contains correct pattern flood, drain and vent holes to fit into hulls of both Revell 1/72 Type VII kits. Also includes draft mark decals. (#PE 7232). And there are other goodies at WEM too!

I found H&G but their web site is in German, what does CMK stand for?

I am doing a 1/72 Gato as a surface running RC boat and would like to find some guys for the bridge or deck gun…

CMK stands for Czech Master Kits.

Since you’re hijacking this thread to the US Fleet Submarine in WWII, the figures you want will be these, also by CMK.

I recently completed building two Type 7C boats mounted on a board as a single display and used several after market kits to detail the boats.

On the U552 boat I added,

  • Yankee Model Works 7201 Pressure Hull Kit
  • White Ensign Models 7211 Torpedo Loading Set
  • Czeck Master’s Kits N72001, 02, 03 and 05 Command, Torpedo, Engine and CPO Room Kits

On the U253 boat I added,

  • Nautilus Models 72-003 Wood Deck Kit
  • Yankee Model Works 7202 PE Set

On both boats and the Special Navy Type 23 Uboat I added,

  • Revell 02525 Uboat Figures
  • Czeck Master’s Kits f72116, 117, 127, 132 and 133 figure sets

I do not recommend combining the Pressure Hull and CMK Room Insert Kits on the same model as they are not compatible. I had to grind away 75% of the pressure hull kit parts to make them fit between the Uboat hull and the room insert kits. I cut away the deck on U552 to reveal the pressure hull fore and aft of the bridge but left the deck intact on the U253, NM wood deck was too nice to cut up. The U552 is set to look as if it was in port being provisioned. U253 is intended to look like a boat in a deck gun action.

White Ensign Models is working on sets for the Revell 850384 Gato Class Sub kit as listed on their web site,
