Revell Dune Sandworm

I have one of these kits still lying in my basement from the 80’s, and for a lark I’m considering building it up.

Thing is, it doesn’t actually look like the sandworm from the movie. It’s head is more bulbous, looks more like, well, that thing you see when you are undressed, to be frank. No, not the mole in your thigh, think a little higher. [:p]

Anyone build this up and have any thoughts on this? Did anyone fix it to look more like the movie worm and less like something you’d buy in a sex shop? If you did, how did you do it?

Larry,
Interesting problem. You could build up the body to match the head so that there was no bulbousness (is that even a word?). or Shave the head to match the diameter of the body. The rest is going to be what ever you use to match up to the movie.
I suppose you could make it with its mouth open getting ready to strike a mining ship, that would eliminate some of the phallic quality.
There were some differences between the theatrical version worms, and the ones that were cgi’d in the Sci Fi Channels mini series. So I think there are lots of options to work from the basic kit. Ive also seen some paintings and illustrations of the worms that were very different from the movie versions. Either way I suppose it would be better than a model of a nudist buried in the sand at the beach.
