I received my replacement upper fusalage for my 1/48 F-14D kit today and I am one happy camper. Looks like Revell is indeed having things shaken up under new management by Hobbico. They replaced the part for free and did not charge me a shipping fee like they used to. Now I am just waiting for them to send me the right cockpit for the D kit they put in their 1/48 F-14B kit. I hope to have those parts this week.
I am one satisfied customer and Revell customer service is really improving!
I’m glad that you are happy. I need replacement parts for the one’s that I screwed up (in particular the canopy for the 1:72 Landcaster). I have sent out e-mails/ filled in on-line info sheets and have only received a computer generated response from Revell Germany, nothing from the US. It has been about 2 weeks now. I’m just going to buy another kit.
I hate to take an opposite tack in this thread, but I think Revell’s “customer non-service” s–ks. I have written to them twice about missing parts for my '41 Chevy P/U kit, sent all the verification they asked for, and so far haven’t even received the courtesy of an acknowledgement. It is now aqlmost four weeks since my first letter, and I really don’t expect to hear from them.
I’ll add another positive note for Revell customer service.
I wanted to do a second Lunar Module and at the time, the reissued kits were getting hard to come by. I found a kit from an on line dealer, but one landing gear leg was missing. I was concerned that the kit being a limited reissue, there wouldn’t be a stock of spare parts. Plus, Revell didn’t show the kit in their catalog.
I e-mailed them, they responded and I received a spare leg in the mail within a couple of days, no charge.
Allow me to add more to this… I didnt just email Revell for the parts I needed I also called them and spoke to an AWESOME customer service rep. While her knowlelge of models was limited she went to bat for me and got me the part I needed PLUS went even further at my request to get me the correct cockpit parts from a different F-14 kit so I would have the correct style cockpit for my F-14D kit.
So those of you who are having problems with Revell I will advise you to call them and ask for customer service or use their web sites part replacement order form. I did both and got the satisfaction I was looking for.
Just returned from the Post Office and just as promised were the correct cockpit parts for my F-14D kit from Revell. I am one HAPPY CAMPER! They took the parts from their new 1/48 F-14B kit after I had informed them that it had the D style cockpit and D kit only had the A/B style cockpit. Not only did I get the right IP panels they even included the cockpit tub and the rear seat controler stick.
NOW! That is AWESOME customer service! They have made me a loyal customer!
I had a similar experience, but with an auto part. The wrong grill was in the box. They sent me a new one, but half the chrome was rubbed off, and they wouldn’t send me another one. Also have noticed the prices seem to be getting up close to the superior imported kits. With just a 5-7 dollar difference in price half the time, I’ll go with the higher quality stuff. Revell may be an American company but it’s still made in China, so we aren’t exactly losing any dollars.
