You know, I bash Revell a fair bit, but granted, I haven’t really ventured near their higher end kits.
Recently I contacted them via their website for a missing clear sprue for an 1:48 Me109 G-10. Today I found a little package in the post. At first I wasn’t too thrilled, because I was expecting something from Germany, the original certificate of origin for my Land Rover (the one that came with the vehicle had a typo on the chassis number…). I needed this document earlier that day to get my roadworthyness. It failed because of this… ANYWAY. expecting to find a folded up document I found some clear plastic. Woohoo! Revell sent me the clear parts free of charge!
Eh… Hang on… This looks familiar… What the? That looks like the same canopy on my yet to be finished HASEGAWA F-4E PHANTOM!!!
-sigh- To quote a much loved cartoon character: “When will the hurting stop??”
So. Is there anyone out there that needs a F4 canopy, HUD and assorted landing lights? It seems the canopy is poseable open or closed, without having to shave a hundred weight of plastic off of it. trade it for an Me109 G-10 canopy?
Tamiya did the same for me…I was just about to finish my Beaufighter and was looking for the canopy…I had left it in the box and it was gone. The only thing I can think of (as my workshop is in the basement) is either the cat jumped up and kconked it off…or a mouse is using the nice shiny piece as a nest…
Anyways, I called up Tamiya USA and they hapened to have a clear sprue that was missing something already—so he just sent me the canopy free of charge.
I bought a Monogram He111 1/48 and one of the props were missing. I went on their web site and had to pay $3.00 for the new prop. It just came in todays mail. I was really happy to see that thay still had a piece from a kit as old as this one. I try to build some of each makers products. I just got back into building about 2 months ago after 35 years and 4 kids later. We never had PE parts when I was a kid. But we had a friends cuz that worked at AMT and sent us really big boxes of parts all the time. We were very cool back in the 60’s, never had to want for extra model parts at all.
In a few models I will make my choice of which makers kits I like best. Simple or tough it don’t matter,I just like building again since I’m not able to work any more. Having lods of fun with modeling once again.
A few years back, I was building Airfix’s Mkll Sea Harrier and halfway through building I somehow lost the instructions on a thursday afternoon. I gave the company a call and the man I spoke to said he would get a new set of instructions to me as soon as possible. He was’nt kidding! There they were on my doorstep on friday morning !
Now that’s customer service.
Are you guys saying that all I have to do to get a replacement part is call the company? I would very much like to replace a canopy on my hasegawa bf109…
kinda ertl claimed that a b-52 part wasnt made any more and shipped a 1/48 scale f-14 to replace it. i appreciated the gesture but i really wanted to build that b-52. and wasnt intrested in the f- 14 i shelved the b 52 till this year when some one from this forum sent the part as they were kitbashing the same kit
