Does anybody know anything about the Revell A-6E in 1/72 scale? It appears to be a TRAM Intruder, and was released in the early '90’s. It seems to be reasonbly priced and well available.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It was a knock-off of the Hasegawa kit from the 70’s. Basic shape is OK, but soft on details, especially in the cockpit. Ordinance consists of three drop tanks and two TER’s with MK82’s.
Not in the same league as the Fujimi and Italeri kits, but can be built into a decent model with some work.

Id go with italeri or tamiya (same kit, different boxes) really reasonable price when compared to other kits in the same range.
Does anybody know where I could find the instructions for this kit? I picked it up for $1 as a bagged kit minus decals/instructions.
the Revell kit is a copy, but, it does have recessed lines instead of Hasegawa’s raised lines
the MERs in the kit (not TERs) are very crude compared to Italeri’s or the Hasegawa weapons sets parts,same for the bombs, they are a bit on the “fat” side
the canopy being split in half is a problem area, it takes careful work to end up with a good looking model,if you mess that up, the eye can’t focus on any other part of your build
Revell’s 1/72 A-6E Intruder is a repackage of the Ace (Korea) kit, basically a copy of the old Hasegawa kit but with recessed panel lines.
When it comes to Intruders in 1/72 scale, your best bet is the Fujimi family of kits (although don’t be tempted to pose the leading-edge slats in the down position – they went down only when the trailing-edge flaps went down, and you don’t have that option in the kit).
Italeri’s kit (also in Tamiya and probably Revell Germany box) is next best, and they have the option of having folded wings (although the detail in the folds is basic).
Paul The Fujimi and Italeri kits are basically fraternal twins. They share the same assembly steps when you are assembling everything from the fuselage down to the landing gear. Only thing that is different is that Italeri molded their wings in the inner wing assembly and outer wing assembly while the Fujimi kit has only the unfolded wing option. Actually sounds interesting in a diorama perspective.

There is a lot of difference between the Fujimi/Testors and the Italeri/Tamiya moldings,almost none of the parts would directly interchange between them**,they have chosen different places for parts breakdowns on a lot of parts, and the detail differences are easy to see on the molded in detail,if they were related molds to each other,one wouldn’t have a correct length EA-6A and one be too short (caused by not making one piece that was needed)

one has one piece wheels,one has split,one has intake trunks, one does not,they have different sized engine faces,one has the intake ladders, and the other does not,even the drop tanks have different detail, fins, and mountings,the Fujimi KA-6D kits are the only ones with the D-704 refueling store, also,out of all 1/72 Intruder kits
