Revell 1/72 VIIC U-BOAT PICS!!!

Here is my tower so far, Much still to do.

The wood is real micro thin ‘some kind of wood’ from a old Entex car model…just stain, cut to size and peel of the back and past! that easy!

The gun deck railing is not glued in place yet and I noticed that u-boats at sea did not have the flag pole in place (for good reasons) so I used a small aluminum tube, thinned it out and glued it on the back of the railing.

I did not see alot of VIIC’s with that cute little bell on there as well…so I left that out too.

any sugestions?

Papa Echo-
I couldn’t tell from your photo, but the UZO (torpedo aiming device- between the two scopes) needs to be high enough over the top edge of the conning tower to affix a pair of binoculars to the top and see out. I think the Revell UZO is a bit too short for that; it needs to be lengthened.

Nice rust weathering effect. [:)]

I noticed you’re using the earlier style ventilation ducts (out the sides of the tower); which boat are you making?

thanks for the peek. not often we see ships. looking forward to more pics.

joe

Thanks for giving us the periscope for a peek! Any problems with the kit??

I had that problem with my UZO also, I just cut the conning tower a few scale inches shorter[;)].

Yes, that is a good point and I think your work looks GREAT… puts mine to shame so far.

Now I have to go home and check my UZO. Isn’t that a Greek drink? May have to check that at the same time!

Yup! After a few of them-thar’ UZO’s I have trouble seeing over the top of my conning tower too![:P][xx(]

Thanks guys!! [:D]

I’m building the U-94 cuz I love the art work. There may be some mistakes but there isn’t alot of info or pictures of the U-94.

I know it should be a bit higher…but the UZO mounting pin is flush with the top of the tower…so the scopes would be just over the top and I made it with the best scrap parts I could find.

I don’t think this would ever place in a IPMS contest but I’m having loads of fun building her!

This is a waterline project.

Looks good papa-echo, I like the rust.

What is the overall length of the U-Boat model. It looks big…

Thanks Tiger! [:D]

The rust powder is from a micro fine weathering dust kit I found at my local hobby shop…it sticks like glue to ant flat finish, the kit has four different tones total.

PE,
Here is a shot of U-94’s conning tower

and a shot of Viceadmiral Karl Dönitz visiting the crew of U-94 in spring 1941. Not much detail of the boat I am afraid.

Thank you Philip!

I have seen the top pic at u-boat.net …but the other pic is new to me…cool!

I really dig the ‘Maling’ art…the little creature biting the lions tail.

QUESTION:

There are no instructions as to what color the rear navigation light right under the flag pole is…I’m thinking white or clear?

Not sure. Have you been to www.uboat.net ? Tons of info, etc on these vessels. Probably have your answer there somewhere.

Don’t forget the stern light on the rear of the deck too. I believe they were white…??

Hey Papa Echo ,

I like your comment about having fun with the build. Same here! I just love this kit and am already thinking of my next one. After all, don’t we do this hobby for fun!?

Ron

Thats right! [:D]

Hello Papa Echo!

Your conning tower looks really good! I would love to see mor pics as you progress with your model. I haven’t started mine yet. Keep up the good work!!!

Danke Herr 99!

…with all the crap the British and Americans are dropping on us… it has become very difficult to get anything done round here, supplies are low and our leader is crazy, my wife says I need to write more and I think were loosing this stinking war.

[soapbox]Jahwohl, Herr PE64: Alles ist ferblundgett! Our fershluggener leader is totally [censored]ed. It’s all “bunker mentality” and no more fun at all.

FYI, the stern lights were clear. Nice to find SOMETHING is clear once-in-a-while![^]
