Well here she is. My latest build, Revell 1/72 Lancaster Mk.I. I must say that all the naysayers were right. I built it straight out of the box, and this kit was a total PITA! It fought me the entire way.
The fuselage halves and wings were very warped, the plastic was very brittle. The decals are cloudy/ silvery (as you can see). The only thing that went well was the paint job. It is Testors MM enamels, w/ a coat of Testors Dull coat.
I plan on painting the walk way lines on the wings because the decals were not cooperating.
I know it is not the best looking build. But I figured I would share it anyway.
Considering what you had to work with in the first place I think you have done a very good job. A nice clean build all round! Thanks for letting us have a look, Darren.
Look s like a thorough project. Considering it was all OOB, I think it came out fine. I really like the pain scheme (black sides, camo on top). There’s a lot going on there, so it draws the eyes away from minute detail anyways. Thanks for the feedback on the kit and the pictures, too.
Nice job. Nothing like a well built bomber. They’re a tough build due to the size and details of them. You pulled it off really well. Maybe I’ll get the courage up soon to attempt one.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Just about everytime I worked on this kit I thought about putting it back in the box, but I am glad I made it through. It looks good hanging from the ceiling, and it is my first large British aircraft. I have a handful of Spit’s, Typhoon, etc…
